Hey Ya'll

Just doing a little research and wondering what you're shooting for a broadhead this year.  So far in the store the Rage has been our biggest seller but there are a few right on it's tail.  Let's hear what the people have to say about each of your broadhead set-ups!

thats what i shoot, are the rage's, when i was looking at new broadheads last year they reccommended them to me, they acually opened up a pack and had me shoot a few, they fly just like field tips and when the blades engage on contact its a 1.5" area that it cuts, only thing i dont really like about them is that say its snowing and its cold out they will freeze shut. but overall great broadhead

125 Thunderheads still, I bought 6 dozen on clearance about 8 years ago at Walmart. I'm looking to switch very soon though, interested in the Rage and a couple others.

i like the montec g5 to 125 gr thinking about trying the rage though early in the season befre it gets to cold from what i heard with those rage arrowheads you wont have no problem tracking the deer after a good lung shot  :happy1:

I'm carrying 3 different models this year. I've been shooting Rocky Mountain Extremes for a few years now. They were discontinued a couple years back and I bought a dozen on ebay for dirt cheap. I still wish they made them. I also picked up some Slick Tricks about the same time and have had fantastic results. Slick Tricks are at the top of my list for fixed blade.
Late last winter I came across a set(3 pack) of Rocky Mountain Snyper-3 blades on sale(very similar to the Rage) I'm looking forward to knocking one of these broadheads this fall.

Although I've had some great success with the expandables, I still have trouble committing to them 100%. Being a longtime Muzzy fan, I think I will always carry a fixed blade.

Joe, I'm kinda with you. I carried both fixed and expandables in my huntin' quiver last year...never got to unleash the Rage...but Matt did and OMG!!!!.....We had the hide tanned so we could show customers the entry and exit holes. Pretty amazing.
I did take a buck the year earlier with a standard Slick Trick. The shot wasn't a good one,(my fault) but he went down in about 25 yards.... I waited until dark and ever so quietly crept out of my stand and away from there, came back the next morning and there he was... never got up again. I was impressed and will recommend them. Great flight characteristics. We've got samples of the new Grizztrick and Razortrick and they look to be even nastier yet!!!
But always remember...even the "best" broadhead will never consistently make up for a poorly placed shot... and any one of the broadheads out there will produce a clean kill with a good shot. Make sure you shoot your heads and verify impact before you hunt!!!

I was planning this year on buying the Rage broadheads but yesterday I fell into a deal I couldn't pass up.   I took my father in law to an aquantance of his to sell a couple guns.  Turns out the guy is a gun smith (does most things you can do to a gun).  As we were talking guns, I noticed a bow hanging in his shop.  I ask him if he bow hunts and he said he had to quit last year because he is under going cancer treatments and did not have the strength.  He ask if I wanted to buy the bow for $175.  I said sure and then he said make it $200 and I will throw in all the accessories I have.   Again I said ok.  Well after getting a box here and bag there, I ended up with 15 new Carbon Express arrows, 6 Terminator Game tracker arrows, a dozen Thunder Head broad heads, 36 replacement blades, a dozen Steelhead 100 expandable broadheads, 6 hammerhead broadheads, two Cobra releases, a multi-arrow fletching jig with large box of feather and vain fletchings, tons of knocks and field points, a hard case, a soft leather case, several quivers, a delux Gander Mountian ladder stand (in the box), several targets, and a box of other bow accessories.  Oh, I almost forgot, a PSE nova bow with lighted sight, drop away rest, new string and cables, etc.   In short, I guess I will be using these broadheads

WOW! That's alot of stuff DE!

I like those Hammer head Broad heads, I've used them since they came out.
I think they stopped making them though, or where I usually got them stop carrying them....So, I bought some Muzzy's.

They seem to fly OK, but this year will be the first time hunting with them since I've been practicing with the new bow.

I've use muzzy's since I started bowhunting ten years ago.

I just can't switch to mechanical due to my friends foul-up experiences.

Only time I used mechanical was for turkey, and I'm glad I did.

No, I used grim reapers.

I've seen videos on the guillitine, and they sure do the job.

I just can't trust myself to aim at the neck with thier heads moving all over. I just put the sight in the middle and let the 1-3/8" take care of it.

I shoot Muzzy Phantoms, just about like the old Bear razor heads. Cut on contact, chisel point will break bone, not curl the tip over. Tried the Rage 2 blade but they open upon release. don't fly worth a s%&t then, they are also very loud in flight.

Interesting. I haven't heard this complaint yet. So your saying the blades are opening as soon as you release the arrow?

They do. We put her on a high speed camera, a local shop has one. You can see the blades open at release. On some of the faster shooting bows, X Force, 82nd, and such.

Used the 100grn G-5 Montec last night on a MN Bear (175# dressed).  Clean pass though @ 18yrds, few inches in the ground, 60# Mathews Q2, 400gpi Bemans...Great entrance & exit cuts, through the ribs fine, broad head looked great, no nicks or breaks.  I will defiantly use them again, the bear was recovered 30yrs from my stand!
