Hey, guys -- we need to come up with a name.  Do either of you have any ideas?  Here are some I've thought of:

i practice management and i would take that buck with my bow also. never taken a buck with my bow yet and passed on several smaller ones. Trophy is how the  story of the hunt takes place not the rack in my opinion

On this hunt, I can take a buck but is has to be at least 8 points and wider than his ears.  There's no limit on does.

can i shoot a doe take a pic and wait till the end of the season to register it in the contest? because i would hate to shoot a doe and enter her in this contest then shoot a big buck the day after and be SOL. good luck gruteman, i seen a pretty big buck when i was leaving work to go home and change for my other job, if i didnt have to work i would of put the stalk on ;D

Go ahead and register your deer when you get one.  If you get one of higher points later, we'll change the points.  We can cull our own but not for each other.

For example, if I just get skunked but you get a doe early on and later get a MONSTER 30 point buck, I (as a team mate) cannot take the points for your buck but you can.

I get out this Saturday for the first day.  I shot with Oober Ponage the other day and I was dead on.  My target was a deck of playing  cards all glued to a big box.  I was picking which card I wanted to hit a 20 yards.  No Robin Hoods but still good shooting.

well i let the team down, this morning was not a very good morning. got there an hour early and got busted walking in, by what i could tell were atleast 6-7 deer. then daybreak had a smaller deer walk down the trail and couldnt see if it was a doe or buck so passed. then 45 minutes later looked left and there was 1 doe standing there grazing with her head behind a tree so i stood up, then another popped out of behind the brush pile and i think she seen me stand but she didnt run, so they continued on a path that would give me a 20 yard shot, but unfortunatly it was to my back left so i didnt really cut a shooting lane there but there was a decent hole in the brush probably a foot around so i was confident i could make the shot, well i drew and the little one was real nervous so it walked up the hill away from me, and the big one headed towards me, well my arm is starting to get tired because she is still behind the brush and i cant let down because the little one is looking in my direction so as soon as the doe stepped into the lane i let the arrow fly but my luck it hit a branch in front of me i didnt see and deflected and hit infront of the doe. they ran off i said a few choice words and was so disguised i only sat in the stand 30 minutes after that and left. after all that practice i missed. still am not very happy with myself. how are you guys doing

CODY, I AM SO DISAPOINTED -- in myself.  Don't feel bad buddy.  I got skunked yesterday.  All I saw all day was my breath, then later bugs, squirles and crows.  (CROWS!?!?  What was Noah thinking?)  And I was in stand from before sun up to sundown.  I was underdressed so I was REALLY cold in the morning.  I had to get down and gp stand in the sun to warm up.

Today I got in stand about 6:30 (dressed much warmer and feeling great) and saw an actual deer around 8:30.  Unfortunatly, she had very good eyesight and saw me first.  She tip toed up behind me and when she was almost even with me, she hit the afterburners and blasted right past me into the thick brush. I saw her for litterally about 1-2 seconds; she's big.  I tried calling with a fawn bleet but she wanted nothing to do with me.  I got down about 2 hours later to go get something from my truck and saw about a dozen turkeys in the main path. They ran off before I could take a picture.  Other than that, all I saw were the bugs and squirles again.  Man my neck is chewed up from the bugs; I was surprised to see any and I was SWARMED!!!

So don't feel bady Cody.  You had more action than I did and it's a long season.

Got out for a while this morning with Hockey #12 and got soaked.  He took a shot at a buck but missed   Our legs are so sore from that run yesterday, we're both pretty glad he missed  ;D  We bailed shortly after noon.

I havnt been seeing any deer movment in the last 2 weeks around my stand, nothing at my bait piles or anything.  I picked up a trail cam the other day and put it out last night to see if anything is at least passing through.

All i've seen the past few days is about 100 grouse, 20 turkeys, a crap ton of bluejays and a fox (who kept stealing my apples, kinda fun to watch tho)

Anyway good luck this week guys.

No time to get in stand last weekend.  Had my daughter's birthday party and other things.  This weekend, I'll be sitting with Oober Ponage (my 12 year old) but I will be hunting again on the 15th.

Well as I sit here typing a reply to you, I hope you're out in stand at full draw with a pin on a big bucks chest.

Good luck buddy.

GRUTE  :dancinred:

well guys sorry to dissappoint

BUT I JUST GOT 100 POINTS FOR US :happybounce: :nerd:

i got to the stand at 530am could here deer moving all around me. as soon as there was light enough to see i had 4 does come walking by but i passed them up to see if there was a buck behind them well the wasnt :banghead:
so 15 minutes later 3 more come down the trail and cross to fast so i didnt get a shot. well after they passed threw 3 more came threw but were smaller deer well they kept coming so i decided to take one, the other 2 were button bucks i could see that, so as soon as the 3rd one stepped into my little opening that i had because i never have a deer come threw there so i didnt cut a shooting lane there(go figure) well she stepped in the lane i gave a "hey" she stopped BAM!! she takes off tail down so good sign, i try to chamber another round and gun jam :banghead: so stops 60 yards away looking my way as i fumble with the gun to try to shoot again so she puts up her tail and runs away and i lose site of her in some brush  now i was thinking there was no way i missed it was only 12 yards away! so i wait and a few more does came threw, i get out of my stand and go to were she was standing and there is hair ever were so i take a few more steps and theres blood and chunks of flesh i get into the woods and theres no more blood go 5 yards more and it was like someone turned on the blood hose, there was blood everywere so i followed it and i got to were i lost site of her and there she lay, she was a little smaller than i thought, so i gutted her then went to put on the tag and had ther finger in the wrong place as i slide the knife threw the ear and almost cut the whole tip of my finger off, now just the very very tip but it still hurts and went about half way threw with no effort at all. well here is the pic of my deer
