My 2008 bow hunting up to date

Opener I shot a doe as she was coming into my plot. Given the same opportunity, I would make the same shot over. However, that does not mean I recovered her. Repeatedly I play it in my head and I do not know what went wrong.

In the next weeks I seen more does but not in range

Last weekend a doe at 20 yards but not a clean shot so I passed

Today nothing,    I will be out again tomorrow night

I have yet to set foot were my best chances are for a big buck I think I will stay out until next week

Well,

My opener was Friday night October 3rd. Had a few does walk by with a fork horn, but no clean within 30 yard shots came my way. Believe me, I wanted to spend the rest of the night cuttin up deer and drinking beer!

Had a good opportunity Sat. morning of taking a doe, but the buggers came in on an opposite trail that I was facing and of course the wind was heading thier way and they busted me.

I have not stepped foot on the other two locations I will start hunting around October 20th. Neither of them are large parcels, but there are always a couple good bucks running around, and numerous does to knock down. The one area I will be hunting that I am taking two days off for is located in Houston county and only 40 acres, but loaded with deer.

Good luck to all and safe hunting,
Alex

I tried to sit out last night, but the light drizzle turned into a heavy down pour then the winds picked up. By that time I was pretty much soaked, so I hung it up for the evening.
I did have 2 mature doe's on the other end of the hay field, but they never came close enough to get a shot.

I went out this evening....I had geese in my hay field, so I took an alternate route out to my stand. Walking out, I got busted by 2 fawns that were just inside the woods edge.  :doah:
Then when I finally got into my stand, I had 2 doe's and 2 fawns come in late and didn't present a shot.  :banghead:

Guess I shoulda stayed in the house........NAW!

At least you saw some deer I did not even get a look much less a shot tonight
It was a nice night to be out though. The wind has been a killer lately where I have been hunting

I guess I will try again next Sat, Sun, Mon

The wind has been pretty nuts down here lately also. Looks like warmer weather here in the southern portion of the state for the remainder of the week.
I'm kind of a weekend warrior due to my wife's hours and our six month old. I have to find a babywatcher if I want to get out during the week, which may fall on my non-hunting brother who lives two miles from me! :woot:
You guys will have to pick up my slack this weekend as we are heading up to Aitkin to bring our dock in on my family's cabin and it's not looking like I will be getting out for any hunting, just some cold legs, beers and camraderie for me.

How is everyone doing?

Big plans for this weekend and next in the woods. Hopefully two full days each weekend with one day off to secure a doe, and a ten + buck.

Good luck to all of you.

Well it’s been pretty slow around here. Not from a lack of trying, I have been out 2 to 3 times a week and nothing down yet.
I haven’t had time for a morning hunt due to bus stop duty. But with school out for a few day,s.  I was going to head out this morning but the whole AM PM thing messed me up    so the alarm did not go off. Heading out tomorrow morning and again Sun night and all day Mon.

If I still do not have, a deer down I may just give one of you one heck of a deal on a bow and a few stands. It is getting frustrating, still fun and enjoyable but frustrating  :banghead:

I just haven't been going out much.
It was early doe season with my son last weekend.
Then I went pheasant hunting Monday night and Wednesday night, Tueday night went fishing with the kids.
Tonight I'm going fishing for pike.

TOMORROW.....I'll be sitting in the stand.

This is the fun time of year........So many things to shoot at, and so little time! (and fish)

I've just reserved some QT time with mothernature this weekend and I'm pumped!

Weather is getting good+deer are really starting to move down here=100 points.

I had an opportunity to go out very briefly tonight. Few does at long range, had a doe at 22 yards quartering away from me, just couldn't pull the trigger 'cause I could've carried her out on my shoulder. Oh well.

Good luck to you both this weekend if you happen to make it out.

Well, I sat out tonight.......

A big doe came out of the swamp at a full trot, 30 yards away.
I whistled at her to stop, but she kept on going.
Then I found out why, a small 6 was chasing her, and he didn't stop either.
After it got dark, I tried to creep out of the woods but the leaves are crunchy.....she blew at me 1/2 way out of the woods......busted!

But, I did get a shot off at a gray fox.....I missed....but, I got a shot off!   :whistling:

You’ll get them next time.

I think I finally figured out the deer on some new property I am hunting. I hunted it last year but only a few times. Today after seeing nothing many other days, I saw at least six deer. However, I need to change my attack plan. So In the morning I am driving up north to get some different stands. And set them up on Sunday about 10 AM. Then hunt a different spot that night and hit them hard all day Monday from the new spot.

If it goes ½ as good as I hope we will be on the scoreboard with at least 100 points. This land also holds buck worth I believe well over the 100-point mark

Monday could be the hunt of my lifetime so far!

AND YES I AM VERY EXITED IF YOU DID NOT RELIZE THAT ALREADY   :taz:

Just about this morning. A nice sized dow came in about half an hour before I could see anything followed by another deer that seemed a little bigger. My stand is about 25 yards off the trail they came in on. Perfect wind, just too dang early.

The pic is the day before, same exact trail.

Shot at a big doe the morning, (30 yards) but she jumped the arrow........  :banghead:
She ran about 60 yards, turned and blew 3 times back in my direction.
So, I thought I spoiled my spot and changed tactics.

Then I sat out tonight in a different stand, and didn't see nuth'in!

Had the same little doe come by this morning. It might be time to chalk one up on the board at any size. I didn't fare so well this evening, got to go to the pumpkin patch and watch my wife and mother-in-law harass my son! Couple more years buddy and you can skip the harassment and sit out in the woods with dad!

I see these 2 little buggers most every night.
They were only 45 yards away when I took this pic off of my porch.
Tried to zoom in with my camera, but was shaking a little.

Yesterday was just to cold and windy and today....I'm to lazy.

I was out sat morning and had a doe underneath my stand for a good twenty minutes before I could see my sights. She was definately a good one to take, but she sauntered off before I could shoot her. Had another yearling doe work by me, and a four point cruising with his nose to the ground.

Sunday morning didn't see anything besides the trees moving side to side in thirty mile an hour winds.

Perfect 25 yard broadside shot......Problem was, she was only about 120 pounds.   :banghead:

Seems all the big doe's are coming out after dark...at least in my woods.
