I'm going but haven't decided if I will use the bow or gun.  If I use a bow, can I tag a doe with the early anterless tag?

Hey team member!!!  I am planning on going.  Since I did not draw a doe tag in the area I hunt I figured I would go.  Last year I got a doe durring the early season.  It was warm out and a ton of fun!!!!!

I had planned on trying the early doe season but things have come up and I will have to wait until next year.  Good luck Jewel and MnMoose.  Get a couple of does and put our team out in first place were we belong.

I believe that you may take does with any legal weapon of choice shotgun pistol and rifles of proper calibers of course muzzleloaders and bows as long as they are tagged with the early season tags!  I did not draw a doe tag either so this along with a little fall fishing shall be a great weekend  Good luck to all!!

no.  it is for rifle/muzzleloader only.  You need a valid rifle or muzzleloader license to buy and use a early antlerless tag.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

thats kinda funny.....i been talking to people in my area about this season and everybody is confused of what they need to buy in order to get these tags. i know people who have bow license and can buy the tags. other people say you need your gun license to buy them. i dont know about your area but down here in southeast minnesota most places dont require you to have your gun license. all they care about is if you have any license for this year if its bow or gun.  i dont know, maybe we're not doing it right down here but as long as people dont check out the right stuff this will keep happening.

It's not all that confusing at all, people need to read the DNR Regs book and or contact the DNR before they go do these special hunts, there are many ways for a person to fing out informatin, they can email the DNR, call, contact there local CO, all of these things should be done way prior to any hunts, not the day before.

straight from the DNR website...

anyway, doesn't matter now, it's over.

I got one this morning.
Turns out it was a nubbin buck.  But it was antlerless. ;D

Well, I made sure I was covered.  I had a bow license, bonus tag, firearm license, early doe permit, and muzzle loader license.  Now, I just hope I don't hit one with my pickup. :rotflmao:

Our party of four got one doe on Saturday, funny how the bucks come out when they know they're safe.  The weather was rainy which didn't make the deer come out any more either.  I guess we'll just have to get the rest of them during regular season.

We got 2 for our party of 5. I don't know what the DNR was thinking with the early season in our area. We definetly don't have those kind of numbers of deer. I hope they don't have it next year in our area again. Though it was fun it wasn't needed.
Let the small bucks walk. Don't assume the neighbors will shoot them if you don't. If you shoot him what chance does that buck have to grow......ZERO!

Big E,
I agree with you.  I don't think it's needed but I do hunt the early season.  Sometimes I use a bow and sometimes the gun.  The only advantage is you can get a couple does in the freezer and that could be less hasle during the regular season.  By hasle I mean less deer to take care of.  And of course, if you get one early, it takes some of the pressure off you during the regular season.  I wish they would make one change to the early season.  If you participate in the early doe season, your regular rifle season should start after the first weekend.  This would help spread out the hunter density.

That's a good idea Deadeye. It does help take the pressure off for the normal gun season too. I was the only one that seen deer that whole weekend in our group so I'm thinking that even if they only gave out 1 doe tag instead of 2 that would make it better.....That's it I'm gonna start a new post.
