Only 26 more full days ahead to enter your fish. :banghead: So, what are you going to do about it.  :surrender: :bs: Are we all just going to sit back and let those guys from team #25 slide into home plate and win the championship?  :doah:  The 26 days seems like a lot of time left, but in reality we all know how fast time goes by. :moon:

I know I'm not ready to roll over and Spuds is just getting warmed up now that he understands the basics of camera storage. And it sounds like Bena told Woody she's not getting out of the boat until she catches a 20" bass. I like our chances.

Was out yesterday and it might have been the warmest day of the week, water has cooled very quickly this year so I am only fishing for big ones now!

Team mate participation? Now what the heck is that exactly? It's a little late now, but next years challenge is just around the corner.

Don't say like that Hunterdown. There are 11 teams that have top fish from 1 team member but that does not mean they did not paticipate. Judging is a hassle I believe and it is a shame to lose such a great judge. What would it take to keep you in the boat? If we got Teri Hatcher as one of your teammates next year would that help? I was checking into her contracts and she demands that she needs constant sunblock applied and adjustment of bikini strings While near the paparzzi. Once out to sea the strings do not need to be tied.

How about next year everyone who didn't post gets thrown in the same hat and can be teammates together.  Then all the people who did post a fish this year and any new comers get thrown in another hat.  Just a suggestion not set in stone.

Sounds like the General is volunteering to help run the 2010 fish contest. If not I may throw my hat in the ring on Nov. 1st. I only need 10 more inches to move up into the money so I will be way too busy until then.

Well....you want an explanation........  :coffee:

Last year, I had a team mate that didn't participate and this year, I got two........

Kinda fed up.  :titanic:

I fish quite a bit, I do my part.... but when hunting season comes...I hunt...(Hence the nickname Hunter)  :fudd:

Maybe have 1 man teams next year....wouldn't be as much fun, but at least, I would win or loose on my own merit.  :bs:

Yes Ken, the chick would help  ....but, I wonder if mama Hunter would understand...

 :reporter;

I guess I'd have to agree with HD on the no help from your teammates.  It would be nice if they at least would show some support on the smack down thread. The way I see it in some cases is as follows. If the dominant member of any team submits an outstanding size fish of any eligible species his teammates are not inclined to enter a lesser size fish of same species. Therefore, they won't submit an entry. Thus the feeling of going it alone and some frustration sets in.

Plenty of our top teams fell into that category this year. The way I try to look at it is that if you've landed into a situation like that then it's just the luck of the draw. Therefore I try to put a different spin on it by realizing that you single handedly brought your team to your position in the standings against tougher odds than most crews had.

We all want to win this thing as much as the next guy, but for many of us the real fun is all the trash talking and getting a kick out of the good natured bashing we all hand out as well as getting bashed. Even though there is a certain amount of serious fishing competition the smack talk comments are priceless on some days and keep the intensity factor alive.

It's unfortunate that where most of us live geography it's not feasible to fish together because that could be a real blast. I could pick out a good dozen people on MNO that I'd like to fish with. As far as the way The Challenge has been handled it couldn't have been better with this year being even better than last.

Here's hoping that the same master minds will pick up the torch again next year and run the MNO Fishing Challenge once again. :happy1:

Very nice post Lee.  I agree with it all.  Last year HD carried our team and I let us down with the Walleye (I think I only managed a 25 incher) and feel bad to this day about it.  But that wasn't for the lack of trying.  It always seemed that every time I went to post a large Bass or Northern then him he already caught one bigger.  But this year even if you don't have a bigger fish then your teammate for an upgrade you get to throw your name in the hat for the prizes.  How many people have not even registered a fish in the challenge?

I think people understand with an explanation like this.  Sorry to hear about the busy schedule and not getting out fishing.  To me it's the no show no call that gets people.

No need to be sorry.  Sometimes a lil thing called LIFE gets in the way.  Sometimes a person has horrible luck when fishing.  There are many reasons why a person may not have posted a fish.  Take myself, I've been out fishing as much as I could this year.  But a lil thing called LIFE keeps getting in the way-work, family things, bad weather, etc.  And when I did get out, it wasn't always a successful trip for my family or myself.  I guess that's why it's called fishing and not catching!  ;)

As for posting in the smack talk;  Some people simply don't care for it.  (Like mom always said-If you don't have anything nice to say-don't say anything at all!)  I don't see how people can be faulted for not getting involved in the smack talk.  Different strokes for different folks.  Heck alot of our posts are simply read and not acknowledged or replied to-that's just how things are in the world of forums.

So to anyone who sincerely tried their best to post a fish on the contest-don't feel bad or guilty about not "succeeding"-you tried, that's the best you can do.  This contest is supposed to be for fun.  The prizes are a bonus.  It's supposed to be about commaraderie and getting to know people from the site.  Some people take things too seriously and miss out on the simple fun of things.  Not to mention they tend to ruin it for others.  That's unfortunate.  But this happens in all walks of life.

It takes a considerable amount of time to run this contest, and Bobby Bass & Hunterdown have done a great job at staying on top of things.  I'm sure if they ran into a tight spot where help was needed they would ask.

Remember there's still time left in this thing-so get out while you can!   :fishing:  :happy1:

I went from catching the biggest fish of my life (40.5 muskey) last year to being out fished by my 2 year old son this year but as soon as i'm healed up from sugrey that I had last Friday I will be back out on the water trying to fix that (not that I don't love the fact that he is catching fish because I do)but and there is also the ducks and deer thing to take care of to. :fishing2: :fudd: :archery: thanks for understanding I will do my best to try and do a little (or maybe alot) of smacking training-087 :happybounce:

Don't get me wrong here....
I ain't trying to be a downer, just a little fustrated.

General, you did a fine job last year, I was proud to have you as a team mate!

The way it was set up this year, no matter what your team mate posted...you could still enter a fish, and you could win a prize by being entered in the drawings for Auggs gift certificates.
(see I don't spell to good either) Which we are very greatfull that he put those up.

I guess part of the fustration comes from, them folks, not posting any fish. I understand that things in life get in the way...(cause it happens to me also) But, a little note or a pm saying so, would help. Me and General last year kept tossing pm's back and forth keeping in contact, and it was something to keep me interested...this year...nada....

And, yes....if there were any problems that we needed any help, we would ask.
I appreciate you guys stepping up and voiceing that you would help, you guys are da best!

Lee, I feel the same way....There are a few of you guys I would like to fish with as well. I have had the pleasure of fish'in with Bobby, and become friends through this challenge. I have met Ken a few times (just haven't gotten his butt in a boat....yet) Lee, I think it would be a hoot to fish with you! You seem to be a card and would keep it interesting. Doug is another one! He's a good sh*t, and I have had the pleasure of ice fishing and drinking a few beers with him. And, yes General...I'd even like to fish, or hunt with you!
There are way to many to name you all....

So, don't get me wrong....I have made a few friends though this...just a little fustrated.  :sorry:

Hunter

Hey Hunterdown how did you know I'm a good shot?

Great post and all of what was mentioned is true. I've been fortunate to have two solid partners this year who - even though they haven't brought in any fish we've done a good job of keeping in touch. Last year I was on my own.

The smack chatter has always been entertaining. I disagree with Woody - no one is getting beaten up on here or at least anyone who would actually be hurt by it. And comments can be delivered that are anywhere from hard smack to Minnesota nice.

I sure hope everyone is in again next year and I agree last year was good but this year was better.

                     General Patton's weather prayer. ** Revised **

Almighty and most merciful Father, I humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains and winds with which we have had to contend. Grant The Wanderers fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to the Wanderers as soldiers who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, the Wanderers may advance to final victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of other teams and establish Thy justice among men and nations.
