Yeah I duck hunt next to an apple orchard, or well, used to until It was dried up and leveled for a house. I hate people. Don't wreck wetlands. Doesn't matter if it's dry. Just a bad year right?

Yeah,I here ya on the wetland deal,I lost a pond in my back hard, nice open pond that house'd and bred mallards every spring, well the city,Hugo, decided to drain it (rice creek water system in washington cty)because the farmer down stream wanted to subdivide his land to a developer,so they dropped the water level 4ft,no more pond or frogs  I called the DNR,and everuthing was legal, they sent me to the watershed folks, they said they reviewed the permit request via 'google earth" in the fall,of course when the water was low two summers ago, ticks a guy off, since then I snuck out one night, built a natual barrier,so far so good, the pond isn't as big as before but the ducks and shore birds don't seem to mind.

Yep, he graduated to the 870 this year.
The little bugger lives for goose hunting....half the time he don't even get his camo on, and heads out to the field to jump um.

Makes me a proud papa!

There must have been a mistake at the winchester factory and they mixed up the steel #4s and the heavy shot #4 because we killed our 24 ducks and the 2 geese that came in today with no cripples that got away?  lol just pokin' fun dont want to get anything started in here. but all joking aside we had a great hunt this morning the birds decoyed great and the shooting was ok. heading out again sunday morning to shoot em up again.

i think we had to water swat maby 10? and ill take that because even if we burn up 10-15 shells finishing off a bird were still way ahead of the game! and you cant tell me you kill every bird stone dead with heavy shot...this aint my first rodeo cowboy  ;) but this isnt a thread for bickering over shells sorry i brought it up! haha lets just drop that one, i know im supposed to set a good example being the moderator and all  :toast:

  Ducks already?  Are those from a youth hunt or does NoDak start a week earlier?

I used Heavy Metal and abosulty love it. All my birds where stone dead when they hit the ground and the 4 birds in 3 shots was crazy.

The old saying of "talk to anyone that has shot hevi shot and you'll here a story"

Red I would love to but were doing the family thing this weekend and camping. Shuld have some good shooting though, maby we will have to get together one of these weekends and do a big water hunt on cass or leech?

And as for the hevi-shot thing, Were 100% so far with steel shot so i see no reason to spend another $200.00 on a case of shells or more. Anyones mind your going to change has already been changed so this discussion can be dropped.  :surrender: You win, hevi-shot is the way to go.

I score each side of the birds in a grid pattern about 1/8'' down. Then grill them hole and brush on butter with worchestershire, onion powder, and garlic powder every time i flip them. It is the best way to make ducks or geese i have found, if you cook them like a good pice of steak they are tender and jucie.

How in the world did you get caught?  Did they find you laying in a snow bank with your  :moon:  down?  I too earned that "Badge of honor" years ago.

Good luck this weekend Fubar and to everyone else!
