 :help:

I am deer hunting for the first time this year. I will be in zone 284 for the regular firearm season. This area is limited to 1 buck...I believe. If I shoot a buck with my shotgun, am I done for the rest of the fall or can I also purchase a muzzleloader license, go to the same zone, go out with my black powder and get another buck? I don't know if I am making sense here but and input would help. And any more input on regulations for zone 284 would be great!

John

right, one buck... but you can fill it with a doe.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

Only 1 buck for the state. You are better off calling your local MNDNR office that handles your zone to get an accurate answer for any questions.

You can find your area by going to mndnr.com.

one buck but you can still party hunt.  If you shoot one with your shotgun have someone else (in your party) tag it and your good to go with your muzzleloader

Yep.....you only get one buck per year, on your license. Whether it be muzzle, bow or rifle.

So if I want to go out with the black powder I need to find a zone that will allow me to take a doe?

Thanks John

This is copied from the DNR web site:

Muzzleloader either-sex lottery permits. All adult firearm and muzzleloader hunters must apply in lottery areas. If successful, the permit will only be valid for the season and area listed on the permit. There is no exemption for people who only hunt the muzzleloader season.

yep if you want to use a muzzleloader and have already taken a buck in a lottery area where your only allowed 1 deer maximum then your done shooting deer in that area and your done shooting a buck statewide unless you have a party to hunt with that will allow other people to use there buck tag. now if you still want to hunt the muzzleloader season out of the zone thats lottery lets say an intensive harvest area then you should be good to go just have the proper tag
