The recent snowfall has many Minnesotans thinking about a winter getaway that includes cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing.

At Itasca State Park in Park Rapids, Minn., all that and more is right outside the door when visitors stay overnight in the modern four-season suites. They are conveniently located within the park and affordably priced at a reduced rate of $99/night from Nov. 1 through the Thursday before Memorial Weekend.

“Itasca State Park is a real jewel with wonderful year-round recreation opportunities,” said Park Manager Matt Snyder, “but not many people realize that we offer winter lodging.”

Each of the 12 four-season suites has its own bathroom with a shower and tub (unless ADA shower is present); log furniture complete with bedding and linens; a kitchenette with pots and pans, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher; and amenities including a color TV, Internet access, and a phone. Each suite can accommodate up to four adults or a family of four to six, and adjacent units can be connected by way of an interior door.

Through the end of October, the suites can be rented for $132/night.
