An open letter to Troy Reinke:

Sir.

I have followed your case with extreme interest as I am and always have been a law abiding sportsman in Minnesota.

I looked up your record and found that you aren't the most honest person, and have a police record.

I have read your accounts of the deer and how you shot it with your bow originally, and now, mysteriously found it dead.

Mr Reinke, do you HONESTLY think anyone in North America believes anything you say at this point, or respects your ability to determine fact from fiction? The knife edge sharp answer to that is: NO, and you have created an army of us that will lobby to see you incarcerated, prosecuted, and if I have my way, you will never see the interior of a woods again, much less hunt.

You are an embarrassment to all of us that ever stood out there freezing our asses off, hoping to get a glimpse of a buck like that, much less shoot one.

Simply put, Mr Reinke, you are white trash and you only have one direction you can go in life, because you sir, have hit rock bottom. You are living in denial and we out here are sick of your games, lies and continued attempts to create a smoke screen in hopes that you can slither out of this one.

Here is my short legal primer on how to correct this:

1) Admit your guilt, NOW.

2) Stop lying. We are sick of it and we ALL know you are a liar.

3) Apologize to the world of sportsmen and women that you have insulted, offended and harmed the image and reputation of.

4) Enroll yourself in therapy and identify why it is your concept of reality is 180 degrees different than the rest of ours. We all see it, why can't you? Because you are living a LIE, Mr Reinke. A big, fat, ugly, puss filled lie that oozes itself all over this situation each time you attempt to change your story and think that we are stupid enough to buy into it.

In short, Mr Reinke, grow up, face the music and take your punishment. I wont lie, I will be leading the cheers as you walk into prison. I will be leading the cheers as your bows, guns, trucks and freezers are confiscated. I want you to ache from the mistakes you made here and the offensive manner in which you continue to insult all of us that read your sickning lies.

Grow up, Reinke. Don't waste another minute because sooner or later, if you don't, reality is going to turn into a concrete wall and its going to smack you hard in the face.

Signed,

A lifelong honest hunter that finds your actions and lies offensive.

backwoods,
not trying to be the devil's advocate here,
and i think i follow your thought process here, but you have no right to demand anything from troy, and i feel your post is hogwash. he will have to accept the outcome of this as it plays out, and not answer to you or any other sportsman, only the justice system. on a side note, it is probably us sportsman that pushed him to do this(if he is found guilty), along with his own greed. and if you don't see where i'm coming from then you are blind also.
as was said long ago,  may a 100% lawbiding person cast the first stone, and the next one can follow. i bet not many would be tossed.
if you have seen the MN DNR's wall of shame, this isn't the first time it has happened, and it won't be the last.
greed is satan's best friend, and jealousy isn't far behind.

TNT.... Im not quite so sure that the only one he'll have to answer to is the justice system.... since you brought up ole satan... how bout troy having to answer to the big guy himself in the end.... I dont personally know Troy, but it seems he's making his mark quite well in the weasel category.... yeah he might not owe me an apology, (and I wouldnt accept it even if he gave us one) BUT... he seems to be one of those guys that you see on the roads passing everyone and pulls in at the last minute where two lanes turn into one, if ya catch my drift. ;)  He thinks his "needs" are more important than everyone else's... and its ok for him to get what he wants at all costs... he's a weasel!  I think weasels get what they've got coming as far as taking shots from any who throw "stones"....  wouldnt mind even some big arse rocks being chucked his way! :whistling:  Guys like that will someday get what they have coming in some form.....

What a load of horse crap!!!!  Suddenly its not his fault it's ours.  How in the hell can you blame someone other than him.  HE GOT CAUGHT BREAKING THE LAW.  He will be found guilty and it won't stop him from doing it again.  Will that be our fault also?

I could give two craps less if the deer was a record, he will pay for it someway through fines and loss of hunting rights as any poacher would, and will live with the infamy of poaching a possible record.

Sensationalizing this story doesn't make a person who shoots a record any different than a person who doesn't tag a doe. They are all poachers regardless of what they shoot and they all eventually get caught some way or another.

We are programmed to shoot the "big one" through marketing, hunting shows, peer pressure, and so on......so naturally everyone is going to feel attached to this story because "they could've had a chance to shoot it". Everyone's up in arms about this guy poaching a record (pretty much across the country after browsing several websites), but yet how many other poachers in this state have done this before?

Everyone makes their own decisions right or wrong so I don't believe for one second this guys law breaking was from anyone other than himself.

I guess I'm not ready to pass a judgement on this yet.....I'll wait to see what happens in court.
I'm not sure if all the "facts" are out.....
Yes, it does sound like he is guilty....but it's not for me to decide.  :coffee:

We'll just have to wait and see.

Obviously we shouldnt stand here and feel sorry for the guy...And this guy obviously isn't the role model hunter...But there are much worse things people can be doing out there then poaching deer.  So I would say, get over it, and move on. The guys a liar, has a criminal record, and poached a trophy buck that we are all jealous of.  At least he isn't child molester, but I don't see anyone crying about child molesters and how bad of people they are on any forums.  Read any DNR website from any state around the U.S.  this guy isn't only one committing these crimes.

he's probably not the kind of guy I  would hang out with, but the original poster here doesn't have to stoop to name calling.
let the justice system work it out.
that deer was no different to me than any other deer that has ever been poached.
just happened to have a huge set of horns.
the crime is the same.
a crime is a crime right?
make sure to think of this when your speedometer says 71 in a 55.

I'm not supporting the guy.
we just don't need to condone personal attacks and name calling.
grow up.
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

I agree with your letter (though I don't really care about the trophy, I'm not sure the ever growing trophy hunting culture is really good for hunting), but I don't think you should call people "white trash", it is a bigoted way to insult poor white people, and while I am not trying to be PC, find a diiffernt insult for people like him, not one that some how implies that he is poor and southern. Remeber when the anti's have tea parties they all laugh at how hunters are red necks, white trash etc, lets not do the same, even if the guy is a tremendous and stupid poacher. Also a word to the wise, never poach a record, you'll always get found out, its about as smart as robbing a bank after cashing a check there.

I've come to realize something and there may be no one else that sees it this way. He is getting what he wants one way or another illegal or legal. He is in the public eye and the press and hell even we are making him more famous every time he is brought up in conversation. I've had my opinion on this situation and I've stated it and I was wrong by doing so . The more and more I read about it or talk about it the more I realize we are feeding into this whole situation. He will get what he deserves whether it be facing a judge in court or God at the pearly gates he will get his. We should all put him in the past and make sure he is nobody to remember. This is the last time I will bring him up in one of my conversations. It's sad to lose a deer of the Monarch caliber but its worse to feed into the drama that is ruining the sport we all have come to know and love.

arrowfinatic,
One side of me agrees with your wish to "put him in the past" but the other side says put him on display as someone you don't want to be.  Public punishment is ment to be a deterent to people commiting crimes.  If the punishment is not made public, people get the feeling there is no punishment for their illegal actions.  Yes, he will be more "famous" but unlike "celebraties" (tiger aka, cheeta) for a random joe the saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity" just doesn't hold up.  The more negative publicity he gets and the harsher the punishment will certainly stick in the minds of other poachers.
