Has anyone used the Mr. Heater Portable Buddy (small heater that uses a 1 pd. cyl.) for ice fishing.  I like the small size, but I am concerned if it will keep the house warm for the kids on a cold day.  The house is a 5x6.  Will it keep it warm enough?

Thanks

It prolly will keep it warm enough, but you'll burn through quite a few 1 lb'ers doing it.
I got the same heater that I use for my voyager trap, and it keeps it warm enough.
But, I bought the adapter for the 20 lb tank cause the small tanks don't last long.

Is that the smaller single ceramic burner model?  Ive used that one for years in my trap guide(one man) and until it gets below zero it works great.  I bought the little buddy last year, its alot smaller and works almost as well.... you may want that larger two ceramic burner Buddy heater, its got a battery powered fan built in, and its not much more money, a few friends have them, and they will heat their wall tent when cranked up.  The fan is really nice to move the heat around instead of it just rising up to the top of your tent/house.....

I had a 5x6 clam with the smaller buddy heater and it was OK probably like Thunderpout said to about zero. I never had it out in colder weather than that.
I moved up to a 6x8 clam and got the bigger heater (for about $90 or $100 bucks at Northern). I too like the fan and the extra heat of the bigger heater.

There are times that I need to fire up the second burner on my big buddy heater. I just have an otter den and it real important to keep them kids warm because on a cold day cutting a trip short sucks. The extra insurance of the double is well worth it.

And don't forget the portable DVD player too...  keeps you out even longer...
