Well, I went spear fishing for the first time ever this weekend, and what a blast it was!!  :happy1: If you have never gone before, you will LOVE it!!  :woot: I had so much fun, I can't even believe that I have never done this before!  It was way too cold this weekend for my husband and I to bring the kids out fishing (-43 with the wind chill!!!),  :cold: so we didn't set up our big clam fish houses, we just set up a little portable one-man spear fishing house, and that way we could take turns going out there, and one of us would stay back at our camper with the our kids.  My husband went first and he came home happier then sh*t with 3 Northerns, one of them was kind of small, but the other two were pretty decent size.  He was thrilled, because he was only out there for a couple of hours and was able to see quite a few swim by.  Next it was my turn, and like I said, I have never done this before so I had no idea how it was going to go, but I was pretty sure I didn't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out...   Well, about a half hour after I got there, a really nice Northern peaks his nose right into my view!  I was so excited, and I threw my spear at him so fast, ...and I ofcourse COMPLETELY missed!! I didn't even give him time to get all the way up to my decoy! It was very similar to having "buck fever"!  So I pretty much blew that one!   Another half hour or so goes by, I am moving my decoy around a little bit, and another Northern comes in at about 500 mph, and he is out of there before I even know it.  ...after a while, I thought "did I imagine that"?  ...A little while later, another Northern comes in, ...nice and slow, I was so excited, but this time I actually calmed myself down and waited until just the right moment and threw my spear and I actually got a great hit!!  I was SUPER DUPER excited then!!  And I'm not kidding my legs were shaking so bad when it was all over, it was crazy, ...crazy fun and exciting!   To me, it was very similar to deer hunting, I absolutely loved it so much, and I can't wait to go again!!!   .....Why didn't any of you tell me what I was missing??????

Great to hear. Wait until you see how excited the boys get about it. Lets just hope the Muskie Barbarians do not get spearing totally illegal.

Well...hhmmmm...I guess I SHOULD have asked! LOL!  And Ken, we did actually end up taking the boys out for a few hours, one at a time, the house is really, really small, so everybody couldn't go at once.  When I took my youngest Joey for about an hour or so, we didn't see anything, but he had no patience whatsoever to be there for very long.  My husband took Billy (my middle one) for about 2 hours one day, and they did see two, one HUGE one, that didn't come acoss the hole ever, just stayed along side of it for a couple of second, and one snake that came through pretty fast.  So Billy LOVED it of course, and Joey...ah not so much!!  He would have rather been back at the camper getting rides on his sled behind the wheeler, even though it was about -200 below outside!!!

Regardless, I had a total BLAST and I can't wait to go again!! ...if this wrestling season would EVER end, I might just get a chance to do that!! lol!

...and Ken, how did you ever guess that my sweet, little, innocent, angelic, baby boys are truly BARBARIANS:scratch:  ...Did I give that away somewhere?  :whistling:
