It seems that some haven't come to realize that the political forum has more advantages than may have been originally recognized or not recognized by our leadership. In Just 11 short days this poll alone has singlehandedly generated over 650 total views. Now, no one can say that doesn't account for an increase in viewership for this site and that drops right to the bottom line as far as retaining/increasing viewership.

Imagine the tremendous potential we have here considering the political forum isn't even up and running yet. If the political forum is not revived it may be considered a huge oversight. :oops1:
Ya, well I bet I can post a few naked pictures on here and you will get that many hits in one day !  Nothing like a naked bass in the morning! :rotflmao:

There goes Bobby again trying to turn something wholesome into something it's not.

well everytime the SAME people comment on this section it counts as a view, doesnt mean its drawning people in. and to assume it and have it as a reason to open the poltical section for more headaches

So, If I get this right we had 650 views on this thread by 11:45 am this morning. So if I subtract my 4 posts from today that leaves us with only a total of only 705 ( and rising ) views by 2:31 pm today. If our fearless leaders decide not to bring back the political forum I promise not to have a hissy fit. I actually never posted there much anyhow.

I just figured it's nice for folks to have a place on this site to join in on a discussion about things that matter to them. I'd figure the folks that attend The Tea Parties and town hall meetings are also grateful to have the opportunity to express their feelings.

I apologize  :sorry: in advance if unintentionally I rubbed anyone the wrong way on this thread, but it has been an entertaining forum.

I'm going to have to agree with Cody there.  15-20 of those views are probably mine.  But to say it doesn't draw people is a mistake.  Sure they don't come here because of that but it keeps things lively and may keep members around.  I could very easily say The Saloon (Which I enjoy very much) has no place in an outdoors site (you can go to a joke site) and the same with the cooking section (Go visit Betty Crocker's site), and the same with a few other sections of the board.  But I don't think any of them should be disbarred.  The better the variety the better the site.  Again I say if YOU don't like it don't go there.  But don't complain about it IMO.

Maybe if this was given a name that really reflects what is discussed here, the political forum should really be named the "Complain about your government and officials forum" since I don't ever remember anything good said in here about any elected official. Just someplace to bash the current president or local elected. I would like someone to point out a post here where someone actually said someone was doing something right. This forum no matter on what site has to be the most negative area of any board. Of course if the political comment was to pertain to the outdoors then it would have a place.. I will now sit back and wait for the General and Lee to do a search in the forum to prove me wrong and find something good that someone said about an official here..  :coffee:

Sorry Bobby I can't do a search for yah.  But if I remember right one of the last posts I started was to "say something good about an official" or something to that effect.

But I do have one question for you or anyone who would like to answer in the part of you post that says "Of course if the political comment was to pertain to the outdoors then it would have a place."  If this is where you are going to hang your hat on why the political section shouldn't be here then what about the Saloon? Recipes(Unless the recipes pertain to the outdoors)? Photography(Unless the pictures pertains to the outdoors)? Any classified section that doesn't have to do with selling outdoors items? etc?

Now please don't take that as a negative I appreciate that all those things are there especially the Saloon. :happy1:

I also have one other question.  I mean this with absolutely no disrespect.  I'd give all of you posting here not in favor of the political section the shirt off my back.  But I just find it odd that most of the people "concerned" about the political forum return weren't regulars, if at all, of that forum in the first place.    So why do you care?

The original intent of the hidden forum was first for Pout Shout, Then came the Saloon, Its a
forum that the general members cant see. The cooking forum has something to do with the
outdoors... Recipes, either wild game or home cooking. When the political forum turned to
personal attacks by a certain member, Then it was pulled. That certain member is bot allowed
in the hidden forums any longer... The uppers can correct me if I am wrong..  Memory always
goes first..

Mmm,Well have you seen any bashing recipes or bad pictures? I would tend that most things posted on here can be connect to the outdoors with out to much effort. I would also say that you may to do that with political comments but with more difficulty. I for one will tell everyone that I voted against bring the board back. The rule of if you don't like it don't read it does not really apply to staff and mods as that is part of our job to watch the board and read as much as we can. Perhaps if we did have a few mods whose only job was to watch the political board it would be not be such a problem. Having said that the argument against it would be why should we have mods baby sit a particular board. An interesting poll would be " Why do you come to MWO" I will go out on a limb and say the political forum would be well down the list. Kind of like going on the  democratic or republican board and saying " I am there for the pictures of the cute animals."

I have honestly not seen any bashing of recipes or bad pictures they are all great and add to the site.  Maybe one member's cup of tea is to come here and look at what's going on in the ice fishing section and likes to dabble in auto mechanics so the second thing after the ice fishing thing they check out the mechanics section to help.  Hey great.  But I guess my point is I feel some of you are saying (and I cold very well be taking this the wrong way) if you want to talk politics go find a political site.  If that is the case then the cooking/recipe, photography, saloon, classifieds, etc, boards should be shut down because there are sites out there that specialize in those things.   I personally and with all honest don't think any part of the forum should be shut down and only adding more venues to attract even more interests.  Heck add a sewing board (maybe Borgie's expertise could shine then  :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:).  I would never visit the section and think it's a complete waste, but hey my hunting pants get holes, my gun cases go through zippers every year it seems.  I'd maybe even have my wife sign up to the site (she goes by the C.P. (Chief Procurer) ).

As for the mods part (in which again I'd give any of you the shirt off my back you are all great) isn't that your job or what you signed up for?  (can't really say it's a job being you volunteer your time and thank you for it).  I agree that you should have some people who would volunteer......cough cough, Lee and Jeff to be the mods.

We all have certain duties to do here besides modding forums, Now when we have to read
every post, That takes us away from other things..
Gen, I told you I would do my best to get it back in time... With that said. I dont like the
forum myself, But we try to keep members happy. Just dont see much interest in it from
the numbers on the poll..

Sorry Randy, You know I have no idea what you guys all do but you all do a great job.  Didn't mean anything against any of you.  This is the best site around hands down.  I honsestly believe you all try and keep members happy and do a fantastic job.  But I can't see how many topics and post are in the political forum but I'm betting it was one of the top 10.  Where I do see almost no interest is Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, etc and they are up and running.  Not trying to be a smart  :moon:, but it is the truth.

Here is a quick reason I do not care for the political forum.

1: I have to see it, because I have access to all forums it pops up to the top of the list every time a post is made.

2: I am not interested in politics on this site. It is an outdoors site and I look for things pertaining to the outdoors. If it was outdoor/Minnesota related information I would be all for it but I do not want to log onto MNO to read about Obama. That is the bottom line. Sure there is a ton of stuff going on in the US and world that I do not agree with but I just don't want to have to hear about it and deal with it here. Then I have grown men that act like kids and start sending personal messages to each other and then they complain to me and then I have to deal with it. Yes I know that most of the people here can handle their own but because of that we removed the board for the time being.

Thats all for now... gotta go

At this particular stage of the discussion I will now relinquish my position on the debate team. This in no way reflects a change in my convictions towards the reincarnation of the political forum. I just feel that the path we are on is leading us all across a bridge to nowhere.

The final outcome is now in the hands of the progressives who will decide the fate of the political forum and that's all I have to say about that! ;)
