I haven't fished it around the Mcgrath area....

But, I have caught walleyes, pike, crappies, perch, redhorse, catfish, smallmouth, sheephead and sturgeon on it. Even drifted it duck hunting.

Some parts are only navacable (sp) by canoe, while other parts you can run a motor boat.

They used to have a tubing place by brookpark, but I dunno if it's still there.

I Kayak the snake over off 65, stay at the Aitkin snake river camp ground

This time of year it's a blast can get class 4 to class 5!
If your not good you will need to portage around most rapids.
After the river goes down it is to low to Kayak in some places.

At this time by you the river is at a class 2 to 3 exsperienced skill only and still have some ice dams.

North of Mora is more cass 1 to 2 what needs no skills.

Have Fun!

Snake is going to be good this year as long as we don't get halfway a couple weeks into walleye season and get a ton of rain at one shot. It is going to be really low, like it is getting already (for this time of year), should be a good season with hopefully. I myself dont do alot of fishing up past grasston area, I've always done alright, with certain years in exception.
