We're planning on heading out Saturday AM to get in one more ice bite for the year.  Breaking out the waders and a PFD or 2 to get onto the ice.

Not a chance for me. Talked to a few guys from local waters that were using planks to get out, but my gear is already stored for the summer.

I have been rigging long rods, and changing tippet material in anticipation of trout season.

BE SAFE.

I am staying off the rotten ice, no fish is worth the risk to me.

You might be right with the cold spell they are predicting. Good luck!

Ice conditions were not a problem for us yesterday.  We headed out onto Green Lake near Princeton and caught a limit of really nice gills.  Ice was approx. 15" thick.  Most old holes had 1" of new ice since it got cold.  In fact, we put on the waders and waded out 10' to get to the ice pack.  Had to break 1/2" ice to get out.  In fact, the water refroze where we broke it.

Maybe next weekend?  We were the only group on the north east side and there was another group on the south end with augers and an ATV.  A bit risky with the ATV weight but to each his own.

I went out for a couple hours last night.

The ice is pretty spongey, had to be carefull where ya walked.
Still about 14-16 inches of ice, but I had to use the extention ladder to get on.
Caught some nice gills, but my camera took a dump the last time I was out. ( I would'a posted pics)

Tomorrow, I'll be trout fish'in, then comes turkey season....
So, I think I'm done for the '10 ice season, less I go farther north.

No fishing today or tomorrow.  So the season, for me, is over....  until next year.

Only 64 more days. Figuring day after turkey day. Same as last year. Be sweet if it was earlier.  :woot:
