I have not even had any frost on my truck yet.  I saw some small chunks of snow in the ditch when I went up to the lake of no fish about 30  min. Ne of Brainerd the weekend of Halloween. Please feel free to report your ice sightings here.  I would like to say I saw some in my freezer but it is frost free and I don't have any ice trays.  First ice will be coming soon.  If you see some let us know.   It is time to get this party started  :dancinred: :dancinred:

(I am only going to say be safe one time----)      BE SAFE !!!!!!

We will have another thread on ways to be safer soon.  As any ice fisherman knows ice is never completely safe ever!!  That being said, lets  focus on

      BONE SPLINTERING COLD              before   :snow5:

I would have said bone crushing cold but my 2010 challenge team will not allow me to use the word crush in any way or form for a year. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Where abouts are you located, around the cities or more up north?

I'll get excited when I see that first little bit of ice start to form along the shore. Haven't seen any yet but waiting patiently. But, my patients is starting to wear a little thin. Don't even have any snow on the ground here. Had a little dusting but that all melted.

The tiny holding pond iced over today.   :happy1:  The Shallow lake I can see out of my office window will be next to go.  We need a big cold front with no wind to get this party started.

Please   cold but hold the  :snow5:

Its supposed to be in the teens early next week.  Tuesday could have a low in the single digits!!

 :cold:

The little ponds are starting to get a skimming of ice around me too - the small lakes will be next and if this weather holds up there should be ice in a few weeks  :happy1:

Was a little ice on the channel yesterday on Rush. Supposed to be windy and warmer today though.

Once they are frozen over, the hard work is done, it just needs to thicken!  Where abouts are you located?

Making ice here in the north. I'm near Grand Rapids and it's 15 above as I type away at 6:30AM Sat morning. I'm betting people will be on the shores of shallow lakes by the end of this week.

BE CAREFUL AND CHECK THAT ICE GOOD BEFORE VENTURING OUT. NO FISH IS WORTH DIEING

In Fridley, Moore Lake (which is split by Hwy65) looks like it was totally froze over on the west side of the lake - a light skimming, but enough to add onto over the next few days.

:cold:  Its going to be cold this week!

Ice has started on Lake Osakis. Put a report and pictures in the Regional form for Osakis. Couldn't get the video to work.

North of Mille Lacs most of the small farm ponds were froze over.  For the fall Muskie Hunters on Mille Lacs there was a stiff breeze and white caps pounding the west shore.   The lake of no fish where I go will be one of the last to freeze.  The last two years the ice was poor due to heavy snows right after it froze up.   That's why this year I will be on the move. :happy1: :happy1:

I talked to the wifes nephew today.  He was up in McGregor fishing.  He said there was about 5" of ice on the lake where he was fishing and the perch were biting like they were on a feeding frenzy.

Hopefully the warm weather today and tomorrow coupled with the rain don't give us a huge setback from the little ice we have forming here around the cities.

Down in Southwestern Minnesota we have about 5-6 inches of ice already. I haven't gotten out yet but some buddies have been catching a lot of perch.

SEMN had numerous small ponds/retention ponds locked up this weekend with 2-3 inches of ice, however, we now have 45 degrees and rain.

I heard a DNR report today saying that there isn't any safe ice in the state. Be safe guys. I want to get out there as much as anybody, but I'm going to wait for good solid ice.

Until then, we need  :cold:

I am with you on that.  I don't know the name of the lake on the south side of 94 just to the south west of the Harley dealer but I saw two guys on buckets there yesterday and thought that they must be nuts.

My sister and her husband live in Buffalo. He said he saw 2 guys out fishing on Buffalo Lake (Lake Buffalo?) last weekend. He said they were in some type of floating ice house? I don't know anything about them. Does anyone have a link to something like that?
