Right on time, I figured this guy would be walking by just after 8pm like he did last night.  Got him on camera, he is a monster -  :deer:

Saw him walking off a few evenings but never got a good look at him until now......

In the metro!  We got 10 inches this last weekend and its stayed cold enough to keep it around!

It seems like he comes around every evening, I have the camera out again, I am sure he will be back (gotta love the $8 bag of corn from Gander) - With him running around, I doubt there are many other mature bucks around, ive only seen a spike and a small 6-er.

In the spring I will be looking for his sheds!   :deer:

So what is everyone estimating this deer at??

I came up with 162 and I thought I was being fair.

I was thinking closer to 170  :happy1:
But I usually tend to be a little high.... Long tines but not too much mass.   :deer:

Read my mind. I gave him the length on the tines but he missed that 170 mark IMO because I gave him less for mass. After I scored him I looked at a friends deer from this year and they look very similar. He was actually a 9 point and went 156 so I am guessing we are in the ballpark.

Darn nice deer!!

Nice animal. But what I am most impressed with is the responses to the photo. It is good to see that you guys that responded did not say anything like He would look good on my wall or talk about killing him. There are too many people in this world that see a great trophy deer and automatically think he should die at their hands. Just because they see game the first thought is they should kill it no matter the season or circumstance. To a true hunter/sportsman bagging a trophy is as much a thrill as finding a shed as well as seeing a newborn fawn. To be able to enjoy genetics passed on and reveling in a herd doing well shows a great maturity.  :toast:
