After seeing that a lot of people were already picking up antlers this season, I decided to go for a ride and see what I could find.  8 o'clock this morning I saw this one 10 feet off the road alongside a heavy deer trail.  :happy1: I also saw about 50 does and 3 shed bucks in a field.  Time to get in shape for the season I guess!

Really nice.  I don't know if I will be getting out soon.  It would have been great going out in the rain yesterday.  I hope we don't get too much snow in the next few days.

I went out this afternoon for a walk. The deer trails are heavy to my hay field with several areas dug up from them foraging for food....but...no sheds....yet....

Made a try at two of our favorite spots today and came up with 4 antlers.  Not the big ones, but all trophies when you put on the miles!  :toast: Found a matching set off a yearling, only to have a third one pop out when I picked them up that was frozen to one of the set.  You can just see part of the beam in the photo.  Up to 5 for the year!

A friend has found a few nice sheds the past couple days. Since then I have been itching to get out so I went out for a little on Saturday and I even ventured out a bit today. On saturday is was a triple mission. I was looking for a dead buck that a neighbor shot and never found and I was also putting out a camera and some feed for the deer. Want to try and get a couple buck pics before they drop to see who is around. Found no sheds but broke in the new snowshoes and had a blast! Yesterday and today I kicked up some deer and saw at least 3 shed bucks. Looks like they just dropped recently.

I'm going to leave them alone for a couple weeks now and then head back out.  :happy1:

Grabbed antler #6 tonight!  :dancinred: I was checking a few bedding areas after dark with my flashlight and ran across this nice 4 point side about 9:30pm.  I have checked these areas for several years now and know where the bucks bed, so am comfident I can find them at night.  I wasn't the 1st to check the areas as tracks indicated, but this one looks like it was dropped very recently, and the last guys tracks were already melted around the edges.

Where abouts in the state are you located jk?  I havent seen any signs of deer sheds around me in the metro, but I havent been up to our hunting land yet though - I hope to get up there in the early spring when they have all fallen.

:happy1:  NICE FINDS SO FAR!  6 sheds by just barely Jan. is pretty darn good.

I got out for a short walk the other day with no luck did see a half racked basket. I did pick up a spot to start looking as soon as I start seeing more dropped sheds. Ita half section with 100+ deer feeding out in there nightly With a couple nice ones. Going to try to get the rest of the section later on this week. Most of it is beans so it will be cheater style shed hunting.

Oh on a side note the big matched set I found last spring was on the finishing stand at the taxidermists today when I was in there

I live in SE MN, but many of my sheds are found in Iowa in various areas where I work. I hit the state land, parks, several farms we have had permission for years, etc.  Only one so far this season was in MN, the one I found on the 31st.  I have seen several shed bucks around home now also, so I assume a good number have dropped.  I hit MN on the weekends when I am home!

Now that I am back at my computer I thought I would add an "as it was found" photo for my last find on the 3rd.  :happy1: I also took a photo of a large tree that has been utilized for a rub tree for many, many years and shows the scars and healing cycle from the abuse... One of the coolest I have found.

Nice finds, I'm going to go out Saturday mid morning to a few hills I spotted deer bedding down on, or hit them after work, seems they don't bed down til around noon. Gonna head out to the farm in Hamtpon too, see what I can find. I got a small 4 pointer the other day. First one, and definitely not the last one.

Thats an awesome find   :happy1:

I will be heading out this weekend on Saturday to our hunting land, I hope they have dropped off a little farther up north.  The snow hasnt been as bad, but I am sure a few have dropped atleast.

I have been out a little around my house, just walking trails, but the trails are alot less than they were during the fall - I am not sure where the deer went, and I havent found any sheds or any deer running around for that matter.   :doah:

I do not get a window but I can go outside supervised for 11 minutes a day Hunter.
To clarify there is alot of State property that surrounds the complex and is ouside of the containment fence with its razor death wire. The deer just need to jump the little cyclone fence to get out and over to my garden at night.
Only once did I have a prisoner in my fishhouse that walked out somehow. You guys would be astounded as to how fast the militia shows up with dogs, helicopters and squad cars. The yard looked liked a parking lot of city, county, and state cruisers in about 10 minutes after I found him in there.
We have great antler genetics around here. I wish the poachers would let them live.

I was hitting a spot today and came up with one nice 4 point side.  :dancinred: I have been pretty lazy on getting out lately... This was my 1st walk since I found the nice one on the 3rd, but #7 is now in the bag so hopefully I will get back on track now!  6 left sides and only one right, so I know some areas that should have a half dozen antlers at least on the ground!  Friend of mine came up with 2 on our walk as well bringing his total to 6 for the season with only one match as well.

A friend of mine has got 6 so far this year, 2 on our hunt today. Thought I'd share some of his.
Smallest so far found today - 4 inches

11.5 inch G2

Nice set found 30 yds apart

He found #6 today as we were leaving our shed hunting spot. he saw it laying along the road in plain sight in a field road opening. Amazing nobody picked it up as it had to have been there all day. medium size 5 point side.  I am sure we all drive by many antlers, but hard to see doing 60 mph!
