Is the ice season over for the metro area?  TOO much rain and wind and the 50 degree temps are ruining our chances of one more weekend.

More rain and warmer temps the rest of the week.  For the metro the season is pretty much over.  I could not get on last Sat.     Oh well, bring on the spring crappie bite.  :happy1:

Be careful HD.   This is not a gradual melt with typical ice.  All that crud ice we got early was weak to start with.  I could not even get out last weekend.  I didn't have waders with me.  Even if I did I don't think I could have got on the ice sheet.

Red and myself waded out onto the ice on Saturday morning. Got up to the tummy in water before we could get good ice to climb on. It was pretty squishy in some spots but rock solid in others. Up to 12" I'd say of ice in some places but who knows how little in some of the 'soft' spots. Caught a couple real nice sunnies and a lot of little ones with some tiny perch mixed in. It's over now for sure, especially after the rain last night. It was my most productive season so far though. The kids are getting older so they come more often and because of that.....the wife let's me get out more often! ;D. Looking forward to soft water but also looking to the fall for my passion.....QUACK QUACK!
