This thread is only for the posting of 2012 MNO Challenge fish, do not make any comments here, but you are welcome to in the smack talk thread. Any comments made, will be removed from the post by a moderator.

We want this thread as clean as possible for scoring purposes.

All fish must be photographed along side a clearly visible outstretched tape measure (Fish board recommended) and must include the staple item. This year’s staple item is a lighter with MNO printed on the side. Any color is acceptable, tape on side is acceptable (that way you don’t “ruin” your lighter). But, it must visible enough for the judges to read. This must be included in your photo. Do not use a picture of the staple item in your photo, it will disqualify the photo. Please take the best photo possible, poor photographs may be disqualified.

The entire fish must be in the picture and it is important that the nose of fish is up against the edge of the tape or fish measuring board. Any one of three judges will look at the submitted picture and give it a thumbs up. That means the fish will be scored for your team. Fish pictures must be posted by the last day of the contest, no late or early entries will count. Fish must be measured with a closed mouth; an open mouth will result in a deduction in length decided by the judges. All rulings are final.

There is a minimum size for your fish to be entered. Bass will need to be 14" or larger. Walleye or Sauger, 18" or larger. Northern Pike, 24" or larger. Fish will be measured to the nearest ¼ inch down and upgrades may be made in ¼ inch units. (Example a walleye at 21 and 3/8 will be scored as 21 and ¼) There is no limit to how many times you can upgrade your catch. Remember that your team’s largest fish in each category will determine your final entry length.

Some additional info regarding measuring fish with mouth open/closed.

Bass: Bass will be measured from the nose whenever possible (approximately ½ inch will be deducted from the length with mouth open).
Pike: Will be measured from the lower jaw.
Walleye or Sauger: Will be measured from either jaw

For ease of judging, we would like to have the mouth closed, but understand that sometimes this is not always possible. These are at the judges discretion. If there is a photo that is questionable, all 3 judges will make the final ruling.

Sorry WhiteOak. The nose of the pike has to be visible (well both ends need to be visible).
