It was suggested to me by one of our members (BB) that blue and white are good fall colors.  Mr. Bobby Bass said he would field test a couple of spinner baits for me.  Bobby is a two time MNO fishing challenge winner and If hes says blue and white work well for pike and bass in the fall I believe him.  I put these together and will be sending them out with the others.  Keep an eye out on the Lakeiwanttobethere blog    http://mnoutdoorsman.com/forums/index.php?board=449.0     to see if they work.  If they do you may be able to see them in action on a video.

  I was just informed by #1 field tester Bobby Bass that the paint does not ad hear to the nickle finish of the blades.  He was able to get one use out of them and then paint all chipped off.  I will be working to fix this problem for future baits.  In the mean time the blades will work just fine after the paint is gone so it is not  a total loss.    :sorry:

I am still researching the paint problem.  The blades come with  a lacquer finish that I should have removed.  This problem is a catastrophic failure as far as I am concerned.  Like I said before when the paints fall of the blades the bait will still work fine.  Just not the result I am looking for.  I am back at the drawing board and hopefully be able to come up with a durable finish.  In the mean time thanks for trying these for me.  If It wasn't for Bobby Bass I would wasting a lot of time making more  detailed catastrophic failures.  :bonk: :bonk:   :happy1:

Just a thought......... if you send me some of the blades, I can bead blast one side or both.
Then I will send them back to you for painting.
The paint will stick then.

I may have to take you up on that HD.  It turns out the blades have to be stripped by grinding or blasting.    Would you have to do that at work?

If you planned on painting them the same way in the future....yes you could send the blades to HD for blasting or if this is something you do alot of (and you have a air commpessor) i would just get a cheap gravity feed sandblaster.  They can be picked up for fairly cheap ($60 - $100)
Fair warning the sand flies everywere so i would do it out side or in a shop that it doesn't matter.  I use one when im tinkering around welding to clean the metal.  Sand is cheap 100 lb bag is around $7 which would last a long time for your use.

Bead blasting is a little different then sand blasting. It gives you a better finish. I may have a line on one if I can get it for the right price. And yes, the beads are more expensive than sand. If you had a crap load of them, you could have them ran through a pangborn (rotary shot blaster) Very cheaply at a metal finisher.

It turns out the blades are brass with a nickle finish.  I can get the bare blades for less than the nickle plated.  I am going to hold off on the blade painting and just order some plain unfinished brass blades that will hold the paint without any treatment.  Thanks for the help guys.  I should have a handle on this for next summer.  In the mean time the nickle blades work very well.  It will take some testing to find out if painted will work out better on some days or not.  If I can find someone to help me with graphics we will put together a couple of custom spinner baits complete with logo.

One will be HD's Pike Hunter spinner bait with a closed loop.

One will be the LakeIwanttobethere custom spinner bait

Once I have the logos I can transfer the graphics onto the  painted blades.   These are not only going to catch fish, they are going to be available only to MNO members.    :happy1:

Another top notch video from Lakeiwantobethere.  I will get another one of those the pike stole to you.  This time it will have a secure paint job.  I had fun throwing spinnerbaits and buzz baits this weekend.  The fish were not real active but I got a few small bass and pike.

The blue / white spinner that I am field testing for DDS does work and here is some more proof, A 4# 14oz bass was fooled last night with it.
