Has anybody shot a deer and then found it in the mourning and gutted it and ate it. My great nephew shot a doe last night and we found her this mourning. Lung shot and the blood really smelled. we toughed it out and I washed her with the hose. Hopefully meat is still good.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.  If
you can't eat it or hump it.

What was the temp over night? Does it still stank after gutting? Can you have a butcher look at it?

You can tell when you cut the meat, take a whiff, if it stinks...don't eat it.
Was the deer bloated when you found it? If yes, don't eat it
If it was warm overnight, be careful.
