MNO Burntside Challenge!!

   GO, whats the average length from the mouth to the anu$$ on your frozen smelt?  How well do they hold together?    Inquiring minds  need to know.

Only have frozen Ciscos so far, about 5 1/2-7 inches total length. 
I'm going to buy about 50 dozen frozen (legal) Smelt in about a week that are about 8-10 inches or more in length, that will be good for northerns next spring.
I'd buy more, but want to see how much demand there is the first year we handle them.

   Thanks for the report on the ice.  Sounds about what we have at the Lake of No Fish.  I sure hope we don't get too much snow this coming weekend.  With the cold spell coming after it we should be able to drive out.  We plan on putting a dent in the laker population of Burntside.  It's about time the locals get schooled on the finer points of Laker fishing. 

       We might even see if we can borrow Borgies bat.  It is drawn like a magnet to GO's noggin!!

 I just checked out the lake map of Burntside.  It looked like a Picasso painting.  

         Next Monday I will take on the first MNO Burntside challenge.  I hope that between the early onset dimentia and the frequent Borgie Beatdowns Greatoutdoors can get me to the access.     Anyone else that wants to give it a go let me know.  :fishing2:

The good news is that I did read that there were 4 less deaths than last year on Burntside.

Not to worry since the greatoutdoors will be open.  G.O. won't be there though. I haven't run into him there for the last 3 years. The hired help will be there and every time I ask him "where is Mr. Maki" he just looks at me funny.

First of all, if Lee would ever be in Ely before the crack of 9am, he would see me at the shop.
As for picking up bait, I'll need to show DDS that there are other methods for catching lakers better than using live bait.
If he gets into Ely from 8:30am until noon, I will be able to show him the whats and hows of catching, but am not sure that he could ever catch anything judging from his entries in the Challenges, regardless of how much anyone tries to help him!

   I will have my Frabill one man with me.  It has a great seat with a back rest.  Temps could be in the 30s on Monday so if it's not windy I will be outside. I have a couple of fine ceegars from Fawk that need to get used up.  I'm sure GO has a shelter out there somewhere.  Probably parked over his sunken atv.

Not with this cold spell that's been here for about 10 days, -36 this morning.
I'm waiting for some warmer stuff to roll in but that's not looking good except for this weekend, extending into Monday and Tuesday.
After I sell the shop, I'll have a permanent shelter on Burntside that will have a large heater and thick insulation!
PS-DDS, I'll make sure to be there by 8 Monday morning.  Out normal winter opening time is 8:30-9am.
