Hey everyone just letting you know that I made it here safely and am all moved in.  We have pretty good living conditions but have to walk to get any were.  Pretty sure I'm averaging around 4-6 miles a day.

some words of advice from murphy's law..
 (an old WWII vet gave me this list from an article/book when I went off to basic.)

1. if your attack is going really well, it's an ambush
2. all five second grenades fuses burn down in 3 seconds
3. when you have secured an area, don't forget to tell the enemy
4. anything you do can get you shot, including doing nothing
5. teamwork is essential. it gives them other people to shoot at
6. never draw fire, it irritates those around you
7. the enemy diversion, your ignoring.. is the main attack
8. professional soldiers are predictable, but the world is full of amateurs
9. never share a foxhole with anyone braver then you are.
10. try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

well like most things I do... I never fully think it through.. so lets do this on the fly.

my thoughts.

1. I can run and pick things up, if you just want to send a few bucks my way I can PM you my address.

2. we can meet at a fleetfarm or wallyworld and buy stuff together

3. you can pick things up and we can meet (maybe at a gun club and shoot a few rounds.. or a bar and tip a few mugs)

4. I can just send you the address and you can send what you have.


I think high on the list for my last buddy that was over there were

current reading material
candy (of a non melty nature)
batteries (not sure what size or if needed this time)

not sure on shipping times.. so maybe the sausage could be for the next go round once we have an idea on the shipping time.

Ok I got a question for ya guys.  In my free time I want to learn to call ducks and geese.  So I'm gonna order my self some calls and would like your advice on good quality calls that are good to learn on.  I'm decent with goose calling but could be better.  We got a few guys in my unit that are pretty good at calling so they will be able to help but I would also like a good source to learn on my own so if ya know of any good instruction videos that would be awesome to .

I don't know if it's just me, but I have never found a really good sounding duck call. I mean, really sounds like a actual live duck. Every call that I have purchased, I ended up modifying the reed to get the sound that I like. I have harvested my share of ducks over the years, so I believe it works for me. So, I can't really recommend any certain call. Maybe the member "snow" has a recommendation.
