I have a dual console walk through boat.  It's old and has a sloping windshield.  My Lowrance x85 barely fits.  I am upgrading to a humminbird 917 and am trying to figure out where to mount the head.  :doah:  I have a wide gunnel but the side window is in the way.  I am thinking I will have to mount it on some kind of gimble mount on the side of the console.   The problem I see is it could easily get caught by clothing when walking through the consoles to get up front.  Any ideas or experiences with this would be appreciated.

Have Collin take a picture of his mount. It should work for your boat. A million combinations.

I have a RAM mount for mine. It was expensive, but I love it. I'll post pictures for you when I get a chance.

Wyofish do you have a name for the ram mount?  Is yours a humminbird also?  I am curious to see what you have.   Thanks.

This is the mount I use and purchased a second one for my MN. boat also. Hard to visualize your situation without photo. This mount is by far a very solidly built unit and the arm pivots in two ways.

It comes in two styles to fit your mounting needs.

I don't have a pic of my dash but there are a couple of shots of it in this video.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5LN6qLGnmU
