I am in the process of putting together what ammounts to an entry level AR.  My question is in regards to the charging handles.  I see them priced from $15.00 to close to $100.00.  What's the primary difference between a lower end one and one of these more expensive ones?  I read the product reviews on the cheaper ones and virtually everybody says, "yep-it works just fine."  Are there any major differences or concerns with the lower end ones?  I'm thinking about a Hi Standard one I saw for about $25.00.

There are a few guy's that I personally know that have built these. And, I can tell you that since I am a machinist, the lower cost "charging handles" are of poor quality and need more machining to make them operate properly. The more work that is done on the receiver, the more it will cost. Basically your paying for a ruff blank, and needs to be machined to be fine tuned. This requires a mill, you can't do it on a bench. I do not personally own an AR, but lately, I've work on quite a few.

Thanks for your reply,  and no, I don't have direct supply to machining.  I think I'm going to avoid the lower end ones.  I'm really hoping this can be a drop-in proposition, and I'm hoping that the quality control will be a little better on the higher end charging handles.
