This is a topic that comes up almost every year.  One of my trail cameras wasn't working last week.  I did the normal beating, pounding, batteries, and finally took it apart.  Bottom line is it wouldn't go to "setup" mode.  So now I'm looking for a replacement.  The new one will need to be easy on the batteries, have a fast trigger speed, no glow flash and a plot watch feature.  Any ideas?  I have been happy with the Bushnell Trophy Cam's that I use. Well, until the one flew up it's butt.
