just curious, ive hunted over beans without a siting only to drive around the corner and see munchin on the green shoots in a wheat stuble, testimoney to the fact that animal knows what it needs.  so my property boundary has wheat stuble as green as spring day, and right behind me is bean stubble. what would you prefer to hunt over during say late season.

Depends on how good the bean field was picked. Deer will take the high protein of the bean over anything green. If it was picked well, and there is very little seed on the ground, I would pick the green.

If there is green around this time of year the deer will be there. Any one that has a rye field will tell you that it looks like a plowed field when the deer get done with it in the fall. I would set up my first choice by a trail leading to the wheat stubble if it is still green. If nothing shows have a secondary by the beans.

the nice thing is they cross come out into the wheat stuble from the woods then cross the 100 yard narrow 11 acres of ours on the way to the beans if they so desirewhich boardering our wheat stuble, next year ours will be beans and adjacent to us will be wheat.

Wheat.  Our rye plots have been getting chewed to the ground.

Anything green I'd say especially since were in September, temperature wise. Otherwise if cold, I'd go beans but they'll hammer anything green as long as they can it seems, many a December/January they would rather dig or eat the tops off our alfalfa in the low spot that stays greener longer then walk 200 yards away to standing corn, I'd assume they work over there as well. They don't need to pack much fat currently or feel the need, we have mosquito's still bothering us as of last night November 3rd. The bats even flew a route and some moths were under the yardlight, wasps still at our front door. Going to be part of the 2016 rifle season, no need for the deer to move much and no weather changes in sight. So bow hunt theory with a 30.06 :) Good Luck Guys

Drove to Foley,MN last night from Milaca/Bock actually. Saw 19 deer before 5:00PM so plenty of shooting light left. I saw 0 in beanfields. I saw nearly all of them in clover/alfalfa with some on the edges of what standing corn was left. I was surprised to almost see any with the season underway. 1 hunter's stand had a really nice buck feeding 20 yards from it, only certain buck I saw. I did not see any blaze orange or vehicles in places like they were out last night. Many of these deer were in 30.06 range of HWY 23 was kinda odd I thought, nice evening, heavy traffic, is the season open lol ?
