Congrats to all the successful hunters.  I got lucky too.  A nice 8 pt. stepped out on the ATV trail I was watch at first light Sunday.  The old Savage 99 freezer trained him in one shot.  He fell dead in his tracks.  While I was gutting him out, another deer kept bouncing around just out of signt snorting up a storm.  I had him into the processors by 9 a.m. and they had all ready taken in over 100 deer on Saturday, and another 15 before mine came in Sunday, and that was only at 9 a.m.  I'm guessing everyone who owns a knife is up to their eyebrows in deer to butcher with this warm weather.
you should of seen the emily locker or butcher shop in emily monday early afternoon!!!!!!!! holy hannah was that place busy.
Glen-I stopped over at the Emily Grocery store Sat. after dark and they had over 100 checked in.  I had my deer over there at 9 a.m. on Suday, and they'd all ready had 15 checked in that morning.  They had a thing on the news about a processor somewhere that had to quit taking in deer because they'd run out of storage space.

I was eatin' CB in the early 60's. Got four lbs in the freezer now. Nothing like you guys make, I'm sure, but it's what I can find at the meat counter. Just had a McReb this morning with it....2 slices CB, an egg, melted slice of swiss cheese on toast... ;)

I hear ya, Dew. I swear that CB tasted way different back then...as did a lot of things. Back then, it was considered a 'treat", just like going out to eat on sundays. *sigh* Sure do miss those things a lot. The supper clubs....ah, back on track. I did just pick up a jar of pickled herring...it's back out again. Should be out all year, not just for "the holidays"...I hate 'em anyway.

Cottage bacon, is that the same as buckboard bacon, where you use pork shoulder instead of  pork loin.

The guy selling meat products in my community I rifle/muzzleload the farm he/they bow hunt on and the shell corn bags are stuffed under there stands and they are uppity uppity in our community and revered as the best bow hunters in our county with over 100 kills combined. If only the people knew. I did end their baiting days and they got 1 small doe to my knowledge this year. Why I'm so against baiting is the deer would much prefer bait over standing corn as these bowhunters have standing corn right next to the woods yet the deer flock to the piles 20 yards inside the woods. Then magically they go rifle hunting with full tags up north a little ways ? The greed in deer hunting is out of control.....................in some areas. Every CO report last week is all baiting plus other problems, apparently it works well enough to risk your equipment or no 1 would. Now off to the evening stand got a massive 13 pointer I'm hoping to see and maybe this weather will get him moving or the doe he might be with. If I could haul corn into the river bottom he might be toast already, but gonna beat him at his own game or find him dead this winter, he is an old old buck.

Good pic there.  I just never had luck during or right after the first snow.  Better luck after the snow has been around for awhile.  Today is not a good day for the hunt.  Really having second thoughts about driving up north tomorrow.  Roads are terrible.  good luck.

I think a lot of folks stayed home...only about 10 deer have been dropped off here at the locker.

Had one gentleman come in saying they had to pay $500 to get plowed out from their deer camp...that was up by Grand Rapids.

Up by grand rapids there was over 18 inches in the woods easy.  The super walmart even closed.  We only saw 1 deer sat night.  Terrell was a little to slow and the deer stepped through the opening a little to fast.  To bad because it would have been his first deer.  The 2 girls each shot there 1st deer within 10 yards of  where we saw the deer.

It was at last legal shooting light.  With the snow we could have waited 30 more min for it to come to the food plot or step out of the buck brush but I'm trying to teach them right.  As we climbed out of the stand the doe walked back through the opening and stopped to watch us.  Guns were empty so we just said hello.

Set a record on a sit this season zone 1 near Mora,MN.........saw 22 deer in plenty of legal light the last weekend, zero bucks, was kinda wild though and enjoyed that as much as connecting and with the weather man did they get out to the combined corn early. I got to my stand at 3:30 and had to sneak up when a loud exhaust truck came by as 7 of them were already digging up corn, glad he didn't fire I was concerned and out of sight basically. They were grouped up for sure. 7 then 5 then 10 and not a buck cmon lol.

Great sight non the less. Most hunters would be thrilled to see that many in a season, let alone a day.
