This Fall I started making hunting knives for buddies and as Christmas presents.  At first I made the blades myself but most looked like an upgraded jail house shiv knife.  I had a lot of antlers laying around so I started using those as handles and started buying the blades.  I pretty good stainless blade is about $15 on line and if you have any tools and creative skills you can make some pretty nice stuff.  Girlfriend got me going on making sheaths too.  I prefer a sheath that a guy stores in his backpack more than one that goes on your belt.  I will post some photos.  Buddies love em as gifts and it's pretty nice making something for someone.

My buddy Terry makes them, too. He melts and makes his own special steel in a big ingot, as he has a degree in metallurgy. He surprised me with this fillet knife on my birthday...with a cocobolo handle, which he knew I liked.  They sell for $400 on up, and he'll make you anything you want, out of anything for a handle. Has some pretty cool mammoth tusk and pearl inlay handles on some....and one with a blue Lapis lazuli handle that some guy with lotsa bucks ordered.  ;D

LPS- she enjoys making things all the time...

her folks have a cabin on Vermillion and have asked me to help them find walleyes on it.  Obviously since I'm a "Giver" I've agreed to come up there frequently and show them the ropes.
