Ever feel like things "snowball"? (rolling down a hill getting bigger)

I had one of those weeks.....

It started with the furnace making noise (the blower motor) when I checked that....I found the furnace filter had got sucked into the "squirrel cage" (the fan part of the furnace) I pulled the filter out, put a new one in and checked the motor.....I found the bearings were a little worn on the motor....but figured that they could last till fall when it cooled down to replace....fired it back up.....but no AC.....hhhmmmm....
I found that the motor starter (capacitor) on the AC had fried....Replaced that....and and up and running again.....

WRONG!

It lasted for a few days....then the blower motor started making all kindsa noise....I figured it was the bearings in the blower motor that took a crap.....So....I replaced the motor.....but even after I replaced the motor...it was still noisy....

Guess what? The filter had broken the welds on the squirrel cage and was spinning on the shaft causing all the noise......

Now, if you have followed any of this crap......note this....
HVAC companies DO NOT WANT TO SELL YOU PARTS! All they want to do is sell you service to fix your problem.....

So.....I called my EX-brother-in-law....to see if he could help (he runs a HVAC company)
He called the city desk, ordered the parts, I picked them up in Plymouth, payed for them, brought them home....installed them....and we are up and running again!

What a mess....$280 bucks later, and I have AC! (it could have been WAY more painful in the wallet)

Just goes to show ya....NEVER burn bridges....even if things don't work out with other family members, end on a peaceful note....you may need them, or they may need you again in the future....karma does come around.....trust me...

OK.....I'm done venting......  :rotflmao:

  • "Seems like time is here and gone".....Doobie's
Holy cripes!!! That's enough! But, good thing you were able to do all that yerself. Friggin' HVAC wok is soooooo spendy! I'm saved a lot over the years being able to yearly test my AC temp drop/output, etc, and replace an igniter or two and blower on my furnace. Anything more than that, and I have to  call for help...... :censored:
