Maybe they'll play good against Flacco.

Usually its the other way around with the Vikings.  (Yes, after just a 2 game skid I'm back to being my same, ol' jaded Vikings fan self.)

Usually when the other team benches a QB and puts in a perennial backup or a rookie, they light the Vikings up.

Maybe the defense will respect Flacco's "Bona Fides" and not take him lightly.

I was worried about that too Gunner.  I like that Flacco is good enough to still be hanging around.  AND he can do it without pissing people off like Erin.

The Minnesota Vikings are addressing their massive void at left tackle ahead of Week 9 after striking a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars for offensive lineman Cam Robinson, team sources confirmed Tuesday.

Minnesota receives Robinson and a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick while the Jaguars get a conditional 2026 fifth-rounder that can become a fourth-rounder based on playing time, per a team source.

The Vikings, losers of back-to-back games after starting 5-0, will now turn to Robinson, 29, to help protect quarterback Sam Darnold’s blindside after losing standout LT Christian Darrisaw to a torn ACL and MCL during a 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8.

Robinson, a second-round pick in 2017, spent nearly eight full seasons in Jacksonville. He started seven of the Jaguars’ eight games in 2024, and 91 games over his career.

What does Robinson provide in Darrisaw’s absence?
In the words of one AFC executive, Robinson is “an adequate starter.” The Vikings had an elite one in Darrisaw, and had they not completed this acquisition, they would have had subpar options whether they turned to backup David Quessenberry or shifted Blake Brandel out to left tackle.

Robinson is a free agent after this season, so Minnesota snagged him as a half-season rental capable of ensuring the left side of the offensive line does not torpedo Minnesota’s offense. By no means is Robinson an elite player. Among 62 qualified tackles, he ranks in the back-half in pressures allowed. Pro Football Focus has dinged him for allowing four sacks on the season, but the Jaguars’ disjointed offense is important context to note in these metrics.

Robinson is also classified as a solid — but not exceptional — run-blocker.

Another factor in this move is what Robinson may want to prove considering he is an impending free agent after this season. Exceptional production down the stretch might not only place him in a better position to garner a heftier deal, but it could also return a compensation pick for the Vikings. — Alec Lewis, Vikings beat writer

They already have Robinson listed as #1 at LT on the depth chart. So, they can't be too worried about him learning the differences in the 2 offenses.

:tut: They started as a 6.5 pt favorite but now with Flacco playing instead of Richardson, who hasn't been very good the last 3 games even though they've won 2 of those games. It's now down to -5 Vikes according to this. https://www.espn.com/nfl/schedule Richardson is only 23/60 with 1 TD & 1 INT over their last 3 games. He's only completed 44% of his passes for the season with just 4 TDs to go with 7 INTs. He just walked off the field, taking himself out of the game, last week...................because he was tired!!!! :doah:

Strike One for a young quarterback is 'sucking'.
Strike Two is pulling a bone-headed stunt like that.

"Tired, ain’t gonna lie," Richardson said during his postgame press conference. "That was a lot of running right there that I did, and I didn’t think I was gonna be able to go that next play. So, I just told [Steichen] I needed a break right there."

They always talk about how drafting QBs in the first round is a 50/50 "crap shoot".  I'm not likin Richardson's chances going forward.  Maybe spending a couple of games in the box will get his mind right.

He was an unproven quarterback when he was drafted. The "hype machine" of the talking heads decided he was the hot quarterback that year. If you recall there were sports guys here in Minnesota that said the Vikings should pick him. He was drafted for potential not because he was actually good.
We can only hope that McCarthy doesn't fall into the same category.

The guy that got Darnold's facemask at the end of the Ram's game has been fined by the league. While Young was not penalized on the play, his paycheck is going to be a little bit lighter this week as the NFL fined him $7,014.19 for tackling Darnold by the facemask. Risner has been activated off IR too. So, that gives them some more flexibility & depth on the OL.

We are obviously not the Chiefs who get every call in there favor.
Smack to the head that goes uncalled and they score a touchdown.

I think we can put the theory that the O-Line is better than in past years to bed. These guys look like they are playing in cement shoes.

We may soon get to see our back-up QB because Darnold will be lucky to survive this one.

Richardson, the benched Colts quarterback is the most dis-interested person in the stadium. The sooner the Colts discard him the better off they'll be.

The 3 TOs helped them get 10 of their pts, otherwise the D had a good game only allowing 1 FG. They had Flacco unsure of where to go with the ball for a good part of the day. Holding Jonathan Taylor to only 48 yds was good to see as well. JJ, Oliver, Addison, & Cam Akers had good games on the other side of the ball. Only having 3 penalties was good to see too. Tough game to watch but they got the W. The next 3 are on the road & they will have to play better than that in those.

Examining Colts' QB situation with Joe Flacco starting after Anthony Richardson's benching

While this past week was no doubt brutal for him, the Colts have already seen signs in practice -- based on his preparation and attention to detail -- that he's begun doing things differently. That he's been preparing like a starter must.

"It lit a fire under him" is how one source termed the benching. If that's the case, that's a great outcome for the Colts. Many members of the organization still hold out hope Richardson can be the player Indianapolis drafted him to be with the No. 4 overall pick of the 2023 draft.

Time will tell.  You need a lot of stars to be aligned for QBs to be successful in the NFL:  coaches, offensive line, receivers, running game balance, play calling, QB talent, AND the right attitude and work ethic.

Look how long it too for Darnold to find the right situation and present himself as a serviceable starting QB.  I hope Sam gets a great contract next season.  Maybe with the Colts!   :rotflmao:

Forgot about the trade deadline deal.  Man kickers here are a temporary position aren't they?  It was too good to be true.  Darn. I hope both of them well.

Eeek.  Reichard hurt his quad before too.   :doah:

And its easy to take long snappers for granted until they have to bring in a new one.  :undecided:

They signed a free agent long snapper, and brought back Reichard training camp competition today.
