This pc said it was $17.5 million but they go on to say it probably wasn't about the money. "The Vikings really tried here," Pelissero said. "They made multiple offers, they tried to close a deal with Daniel Jones."

But it didn't appear Jones was encouraged by the prospect of competing with McCarthy for the starting role. Ironically, he instead chose to attempt and dethrone Richardson.

I agree with Jones.  It would be easier to beat out Richardson in a 'fair' competition for the starting job with the Colts than to be anything other than a bridge to McCarthy in MN.

Harrison Smith is back for another year!  It looks like he gave another hometown discount.

Obviously, not everyone in the NFL thinks this way, but when you've earned close to $100M over your career ($50M after tax? ), why not work with the team to get a deal done.

It ain't like he wants to play for another team, even if they'd give him a couple million more.  Or would there even be another offer?

Good for Harrison.  Good for the Vikes.

The Vikes get the 97th pick in the 3rd Rd as a comp pick for losing Cousins. That is the highest 1 awarded to any team this year. :happy1:

It's no big secret that Harrison Smith is a big fan of Brian Flores & the way he likes to play defense. So, when Flores decided he was coming back to the Vikings it was quite a bit easier for #22 to do the same.  Besides, Smith had another good season last year.

You hit the nail on the head.  They still want him, and if he still wants to play, that is everything.  The money is good, but it ain't the most important thing anymore.

I checked that tracker link i posted below.  Both those guys are still listed as available free agents.  No one has signed them yet.  I reckon this is the time of free agency where guys have to decide what they are willing to play football for.

Aaron Rodgers is considering a shocking decision about his future that might leave two teams walking away empty-handed.

Rodgers wants to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, but the Vikings have yet to decide if they want to sign him, according to Michael Silver, Dianna Russini and Alec Lewis of The Athletic. The decision ultimately lies with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, and the organization will not pursue Rodgers without O’Connell’s blessing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants are both pursuing Rodgers, but the quarterback does not sound as interested in those teams. The report even states that if the Vikings do not pursue Rodgers, he could choose to snub his other suitors and retire.

That Dick isn't Favre. There will be a fan backlash they bring him in. I'd be surprised if all these rumors weren't driven by Erins camp being the publicity hound that he is. I just don't see why the Vikings would even entertain the idea. But, it is strange they haven't came out and denied anything either.

:tut: At the end of the day, though, Rodgers comes with a lot of baggage. If the Vikings don't want to deal with his frequent appearances on "The Pat McAfee Show" and his unwillingness to attend voluntary workouts, they may look elsewhere for a veteran quarterback.
