You guys ever take the lazy way out and use this? My old man buys the Stihl brand for his chainsaw (which seems to work good) but I've always mixed fresh non oxy, oil and tron fuel additive. This can I picked up for one of my small saws this past fall, the saw didn't mind it. But I'm kinda Leary on running it in the auger for some reason.

I see these at Fleet Farm and Menards and I don't want to put anyone down. But for 32oz of mixed gas from $5.50 to as high as $12.00 bucks a can that will never happen in my garage.
I would go broke running the Lawnboy, weed wipe, chain saw, backpack blower and ice auger with those little piss-ant cans!  :bonk:

I have used it in a pinch, we don't seem to have any stations around here that have non-oxygen fuel. I usually get 20 or so gallons in my tote with wheels. The closest station that has non-oxygen is 20 miles, when Fleet Farm is 10. Right now, I have some in my ice auger that has been in there for 2 seasons, and still fires on one pull.

So, pay to drive, or buy a quick gallon... it's a toss up

That's my concern,  I have mixed gas from last year but seems I always like to start fresh the next. One never knows how long these pre mixed cans have sat around before hitting the shelves. Out of the 4 2 strokes here, they range from 24:1 to 50:1 so its always a different gas can. The chainsaws go thru plenty of fuel as do the snow chucker,  the auger sees maybe a 1/2 gallon.  That's all i was wondering..

if i'm not sure how old gas is, and usually never older then a year, and that rarely happens, especially the non oxy mixes, I will dump it in my truck or car. depending on how much, that half gallon or less, mixed with 15 gallons of gas in a car or like my truck that's a 30 gal tank, isn't going to hurt the vehicle. I only do that if the vehicles at least 3/4 full.

Then ya don't have non-oxy anymore....

Oxygenated Gasoline: Gasoline that has been formulated in a way that is designed to reduce carbon monoxide from automotive exhausts. Oxygenates are either alcohols or ether alcohol compounds, added to gasoline.

HEET , in yellow or red bottles, are Isopropyl alcohol and methanol, a simple form of alcohol, respectively.

The canned pre-mix stuff is non-oxy gas with a stabilizer and synthetic 2 stroke oil.

Guys been running Truemix brand and a few other canned ones in their augers for many years. It's fine as long as the G/O ratio is the proper one. Only issue is the insane price.

The stuff you can't remember that I use is Startron stabilizer, Glenn.

Same here! We don't even run much non-oxy anymore as our 4 stroke loads up bad on it & only the leaf blower really seems to like it. A good synthetic oil & the Startron stabilizer unless it's the boat then we use the Marine Sta-bil seems to work for us. Seafoam in about every other 6 gallon as that's what we haul gas with.

I ran E 10 in my mowers & tiller for years and only recently switched everything over to non-oxy. Can't say I noticed a difference on those particular motors as long as the gas was fresh. Where I have noticed it is the chainsaw, weedeater, tractor & possibly the skidsteer where they can set for extended periods. Even on the car club runs occasionally we'll be somewhere where someone needs gas & E 10 is the only thing available. It works fine, you just don't want to keep doing it and let the car set over winter with that in the tank. After the first of the year I'll be putting bulk non-oxy in my 500 gallon barrel. It had E 10 in it so will need to be rinsed out. Still using Heet in the tractor & skidsteer. They gotta start & run in cold weather when I need them.

Nothing but non-oxy goes in my gas cans.  They fuel up everything I have except for vehicles.  I do a shot of Sea Foam too.  That stuff in those little cans I would think is top shelf stuff.

Along these lines, check out Opti-2. It's a synthetic 2 cycle oil that advertises 1 can, 1 mix, everything from 24:1 to 50:1 to even 100:1. A bit spendy but it comes pre-measured for 1 gallon & 2.5 gallon cans. We've been using it at the lake for a few years now & no issues. Mostly just on the Eskimo auger but that's only because we have more than a couple little bottles of the old style 2 cycle oil bottles sittin around. We found it at the local farm store, Amazon has it too, L & M carries something similar.  Thought it might be of interest to some here.

Was out running errands earlier but I didn't see any pre mix 24 to 1 but I do have a gallon of mix from last year, I'll cross my fingers that it's still good yet. Just thought the little action the auger sees a little can would probably be enough and 1 less gas can around..

I've had a gallon of mixed around for over a year in the garage....goes in the little snowblower. Ran like a top this year with it in it. When I need fresh mix, I just pour a gallon into a marked milk jug, add my little shot of oil, and fresh mix, good to go. Plus, most of the oils for 2 strokes have stabilizer in them now anyway.

I just was reading in one of my chain saw manuals.  It is a Stihl.  It said of course to use their oil but if you don't buy quality chain saw or air cooled 2 stroke oil.  The also said DO NOT USE Marine or water cooled 2 stroke oil in place of air cooled oil.  I know I used to do that all of the time and never had any problems.  I am much more careful now.

Yeah Reb, we have some sittin around for the saws at the lake too. If we need the saws we just freshen it up & it's good to go.
