My dogs went crazy last night as I was leaving for work(midnight).  I figured the coyotes were hitting the pile of beaver carcasses.  Checked the snares when I got home and I had a red fox and a coyote.   Neither were happy to see me. Coyote was a 63 pound male.

Hate to ask but how do you dispatch them when their still wiggling?  .22 or club? Watched a few trapping videos on the tube and the guys use a big stick.

Stick doesn't damage the pelt.

I shot him In the heart with a 22.  Tiny hole and seems more humane.  Plus I also wanted to save the skull.  I used snares HD. He was a regular to the beaver pile.

I think the weight is wrong.  63 it would be a small wolf.  I will weight the carcass again tomorrow.  It didn't feel that heavy.

I know it ain't their fault, but its hard to work up pity for the coyote.

Nice job on the snares.

They're all over the cities in California. Even ordinances about keeping small dogs inside.
I saw one last year prowling around the neighbor's yard, who lets her two cats run loose 24/7. And ya, definitely a 'yote. Watched him for quite a while. Pretty mangy lookin'.
He was just getting ready for some cat puffs to go.
