I have a temp gauge on my toolbox at work...102....
Course, I work in a foundry... so besides the heat, we have the humidity on top of that.

Bleaakkk!

I get home to do chores outside, and that temp gauge says 92...

Oh well....

I remember working on the kill floors of the pork slaughter plants when it was in the 90's outside...  pure sweat...  drank lots of water and gator aid!!!
a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work!!

I spent 2 summers in the foundry here, 2nd shift too. There was a thermometer right above the time clock & on days like this it would routinely read 120+ at the start of the shift. Could lose 7-8 lbs a shift just in fluids. Had 3-4 drinkin fountains around with salt tablets near by as well.

I was thinking about the jobs I did that were so hot.  Loading semis an rail cars with wire cage type stuff for chickens and hogs.  Man it got hot in those rail cars.  2 of us loaded all of the equipment.  The fork lift could only get the stuff to the side door and we carried all from there.  Could use the fork lift better on the semis.  Couldn't handle it now as Gunner said.   Was not as hot as youse guys are talking.  That is dangerous!!!

I worked 3rd shift for 15 years...I walked into to the hot crap, but cooled off as the shift went on....I forced my hand when the kids were born to work 1st shift, and that was better...

But, I'm getting close to retirement (within 5 years)....and the heat still sucks!

Be very careful.  These are the years you have to seriously take care of yourself!  You are close to retirement so don't blow it now.

Yes this heat sucks even up here. I remember back in 88 when I got out of high school I was working framing houses down in Chanhassen. That was a dry hot summer. One day it got up to 106 and absolutely no wind. I think we spent more time filling our water jugs then actually stacking lumber. I then went to work for Spancrete Midwest in Osseo for 4 years. Made pre-stressed concrete  there and ran steam under all the forms to cure the concrete faster. I ended up running the machine that made hollow planks and there we ran raw steam right thru the plank. So on top of the 90+ temps and humidity we added more heat and humidity with the raw steam. I might be a lot skinnier if I still did that though.
Hey look your bobber is up!

My digital thermometer on the east side of the house just said 102  :doofus: it does have a tendency to read a little high. Still bites.
