The creek is running, and so are the minnows.
So I dropped the trap to see what I'll get.....

I checked the trap this morning, about 3 dozen or so.
It's early yet, as it thaws the run becomes more heavy.
Mostly sticklebacks and mud minnows so far with a few fatheads.

one weekday trip up north years back when Rocky owned the spring lake store i caught him in the act trapping minnows on our way to bowstring. he sold them at the store. i also know a little lake he trapped them in, but i was sworn to secrecy!!!!  :tut: unfortunately he did himself in some years back.  guess he battled depression.  :pouty:

Production is increasing...
Probably 8 to 10 dozen minnows in the trap tonight, with a yield of close to 3 dozen of "good" minnows  :happy1:

So do you put them in your pond for later use or just to put them in your pond?

I got a mesh box at the end of the dock to keep some in for later use. Otherwise, I'll throw a trap in the pond and catch some.

I try not to keep to many in the box cause sometimes it gets raided by the otters and turtles.
