I went for a walk out in the woods yesterday and noticed a lot of ferns popping up. Have any of you ate them? Can you only eat a certain kind?

We have a batch of ferns and I wanted to eat the fiddle heads.  I read a lot on it.  They must be rinsed a few times and soaked or something like that.  They contain cancerous compounds that must be rinsed out.  SO I will just keep to lettuce.  They sell fiddleheads out east.  I would like to find some leeks though.  They sound good too.

Ramps, are like little onions.
I checked my Morel spots yesterday. I'm  thinking a week out yet. 🙁

Ramps or leeks are the same thing if I am not mistaken. I would like to find them also.

I ate them once just to try them. I'd rather just look at them. We do like the leeks.
