This would be something awesome to see.  We had lots of ducks on our lake during duck hunting season because they knew they were safer there.  A mama with 56 ducklings following her.

A lot of momma ducks dumped their eggs in that 1 nest. Looks like a Merganser. I believe they nest like wood ducks in any hole they can find.
Conservative on some things.....Liberal on others.....Sane most of the time.

Is it normal to see so many ducklings that late in the season - or does duck hunting happen early enough to get one more brood hatched?   :scratch:

Yeah, I know they will stick around, but I didn't expect to see ducklings late in the season.

yeah me neither.  I get the second hatches but that shoulda been 6 months ago. These little tikes won't see coastal waters until it's time to fly back..
