I will hopefully fish here on the river.  On the opener or Mothers Day the wife usually will fish with me for a couple of hours.  A nice tradition.  Will need bigger jigs here with all of the water which means more current.

My ol'man and I usually hit up leech as well...weather/wind pending. But, we usually take our opener on the second weekend as the crowds are less.

Sunday, we'll probably hit up the big pond as the cabin is less then 20 minutes away.  If windy, we'll be at Farm island or Esquagahama.

But hey...I still have an open turkey tag so I might go that route...

You guys are all a bunch of amateurs  if ya skip opener  :rotflmao:,  a few more boats big woop. Although the big winds there yapping about will keep lots of people off the spots. We'll give er a go, but for how long.....

Welp, the G man is on his way here...if he gets a bird right away, we will be on the lake. If not, the fish can wait. I mean how hard is it to catch a fish in a barrel compared to hunting?  :rotflmao:

Going to stay in the Cass Lake chain someplace if I go out.  They are talking rain so just holding to see if I am going or not.   Bait seems like it might be somewhat of a problem if shiners are your bait of choice.

I will be sitting on the shores of LOW watching out the window. Sometimes I have the urge to want to go out on opener, but have not in close to 20 years. This year even if the weather is nice we would not be able to go now if I wanted. Oh well.
Hey look your bobber is up!

Looks like the rain will miss us & this lake usually isn't that busy, so I'll probably go out. Will probably take the Grizzly over to Bowstring just to see how nuts that is this year too.

You won't see me out there. I've been so busy, I haven't even got the boat out of the pole building yet. Hopefully by Memorial weekend. But good luck, and stay safe to those that do.

Went out for a couple of hours on the river.  The current is real strong.  2.2mph.  Lots of crap in the water and had to keep cleaning my line off.  Had to use a 1 oz jig and that was hard to hit bottom in over 12 feet of water with that current.  Idled upriver and said hi to friends on the river.  Felt good to be in the boat.  Dogs loved it and of course they got a few minnows to much on. Now the wife will ask why their farts are so bad.   :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Pretty slow on the north side of Leech. Released a 22” northern, small perch and a 24” walleye. I didn’t catch the walleye and the northern is too small to enter contest. A bit breezy too. Fairly consistent 20” to 28” waves.

You guys and Glenn are not going to believe this but it's a true story.   So the rain stopped around 11:45am.  HD and I loaded up the cooler and the boat and headed out.   Pulling raps I land a 38 inch pike and we put it on HD's metal stringer.   We continue to troll around and I smoke another.   We go to put it on the stringer and the other one is gone.   HD is holding up an empty stringer.   It bothers me none because pike are just a nuisance fish to me.   So we put this 40 incher on a different part of the stringer.   After a few bass and a couple crappies I manage another rough fish(pike).  It's a small 34 inches and we put it on the stringer.   A few more trips around the lake and we are out of beer so we decide to go home.   HD grabs the stringer to bring it in and......
