Too funny.  I was just going to guess that too.   ::  Actually my next guess was water polo. 

Had no idea fin meant five.  Im barely good at english.  Aint no way this boy's speakin Finish or whatever that is.

Ok! This thread goes back a ways but it was entertaining. I figure I'd try to bring it back to life if there's any interest out there. If we could keep this revived it would take participation from others to post some Quiz Questions for others to answer. Who want's to give it a shot

  Pop Quiz:  Keep Fishing or Head to the Hospital?

 

The other night my cell phone went ding, ding with a text message from my buddy Bill featuring the photo below. It's a self-portrait, kinda. What you have here is a great example of what can happen when you forget your BogaGrip in the truck and hand-land a really pissed off striper with a mouthful of trebles while wade-fishing. One shake of the head, one flick of the tail, and you're stuck, son! So what did Bill do (after taking plenty of photos for his Facebook page)?

A) Clip the hook and keep fishing
B) Vomit, clip the hook and keep fishing
C) Realize those hooks are big and thick and seek trained medical attention




If you guessed C, you're smart, but wrong. If you guessed B, it's funny, but he held down his lunch. Bill had already hit 3 good bass prior to this little mishap on the same giant custom plug. Clip went the hook, splash went the plug (complete with blood stains) and he nailed 4 more stripers.

I've seen worse hook wounds no doubt, but I've seen better, too. Had this been me, I don't think I would have gone to the hospital, but I probably would have wanted to head home and take care of this one with a bottle of rubbing alcohol handy. Maybe I'm just a wimp. If you're wondering, so far Bill exihibits no signs of lockjaw or neck stiffness. If this were your injury, would you have stayed on the bite? Have a great weekend, and don't forget to sharpen those hooks.

   1.  You are 4 over your limit.  That means  a 300$ fine and loss of boat motor and trailer
   2.  You owe the state 5 fish out of your 6 fish limit and the inspectors fines you for dead fish.    300$ fine/fish
   3.  The Feds want their share of the live fish you have left(any dead fish will be immediately counted in your daily limit).  They would like a 10% excise tax on top of your federal fines for dead fish. 
   4. Ten would be the obvious answer but the fact are you are boat less, car less and roughly 3000$ in debt.  You can't get another fishing licence for 3 years.   

   5.  You are progressive!!

                             Facts About Mayfly Naiads
 

The mayfly is one of the insects part of the short-lived orders of the insect world. Their short lifespan is the one through which they are categorized, as it is mostly one that lasts for a day. The longer lifespan is the one of the naiads, of the nymphs of these insects, which have the possibility of surviving in fresh water for about a year, as these are water insects. The adults, however, can live from a few minutes up to a few days, fact which depends on the species of the insect, as there are about 2,500 of these in the world.

The eggs, from which the naiads are born, have a long resistance in fresh waters, which depends on the species of the insect. Usually, these can last from a few months to a whole year, time in which they moult 20 to 30 times. They are laid on the surface of the lakes or streams and they sink to the bottom, where they mature until the moment of the maturation. Some of the naiads live in the more rocky parts of waters, where there is no vegetation, while others are more present in lakes, these also being the ones that are most prolific. Although they are only in the development stage of the insects, the naiads have the possibility to feed themselves. The main elements that are seen as food supplies are algae or diatoms, but some of the species also act as predators and feast on the other elements of the underwater world that they can catch.

The distinctive features of the mayfly naiads are the seven pairs of gills on the dorsum of the abdomen. They also have long cerci or tails, usually three of these, while others only have two of these long back tails. The process that they go through is known through the term of hemimetabolism, which refers to the fact that they go through an incomplete metamorphosis in their growth. The last moult is after the stage in which the naiads get their wings. As you can see the mayfly is a very interesting insect and the development stage of their growth, the phase in which they are naiads, is one of the most complex ones of their entire existence and definitely the longest one that they have to go through in order to mature properly.
