the hhc has a shoot on the jan 24th... I'm thinking I'll hit that one if the weather is calm. or I can hit metro just about anytime of the week.

I ran down someone at old vermillion last year who walked off with a older guys DT10, it's easy to mix em up on the rack when there are lots of shooters. I usually throw a blue velcro cord wrap that I cut down on the lower part of the bottom barrel. it makes my gun stand out and the last thing I want to do is trade guns with someone. I also have my name on the inside of the forearm just incase.

cody does your auto get slow with the cold with target loads? or does it hanle them all like a pro? I almost bought a rem lefty, but the wife vetoed the purchase and the secret "hunting fund" couldn't support the purchase either and then I would have to try to explain where the other gun came from. I try to keep her out of the loop as to just how many guns I have incase I make the "hunting fund" purchase.

did you guys see the new 625 out there? I saw one at gander the other day and it's a pretty gun, they got away from the oiled stock which I never much cared for and always thought that one day I would poly my stock on the 525.

well i did shoot 7"s out of it and it cycled them...but i havent had it out in really cold weather yet..well nothing thats below zero anyways. i keep gun oil on me, sometimes the moisture builds up when its really cold out and the guns will only shoot the shell thats in the chamber and not cycle the next shell, but gun oil fixes that right away. also ran into alot of problems with O/U's at the club, when its real cold out most people that shoot the guns with the recoil spring that switchs barrels after its shot. so it doesnt kick over barrels because of to much clothing on...so everyone has problems lol

the only gun that has never given me a problem was my BPS, I bought it new when I was 13 and still use it for pheasant. love that gun.  I wish browning would make a left handed auto loader..   my 525 had a issue at the state shoot where it dinged the primer and the shell didn't fire, did that once on the prelim and once during regular competition. the guy behind me fired the same dinged shell just fine. so I pulled off the stock and cleaned the snot out of it. hasn't done it since.

What kind of shells were you using?  My 525 and my Weatherby sxs are picky with some Fiochi, & cheaper promo loads by federal, Estate ect.... Ive NEVER had a Winchester load, AA's or even the cheaper small game loads, misfire.  The others that have misfired,(not gone off) were almost always from a primer being set into the brass too far, & the primer was barely dimpled...If it wasnt from that, it was from the "bargain" shells burning so dirty, that powder residue fouled the firing pin enough to misfire... :banghead:  The worst by far with the poorly set primers are the estates, I'll never shoot those out of the guns I have... I gave away a bunch of em to my friends so I am able to outshoot em when we get out!  (nice friend huh?) ;D

those shells were the remington nitro. got em on clearance at walmart for 5$ a box.. I filled the bottom of a cart with every box they had.  good shells except for those 2 that hated me. I don't mind the federals or the estates if I'm practicing or shooting trap/skeet. I figure at those distances your either on or your not and the shell won't make a difference.  but when I shoot registered targets I like my reloads or the AA. nitro.

Cody... if I have any Estates left, Ill be sure to give em to ya! :rotflmao:  The shells I practiced and shot league with this last Clays season were those Rio Supersports that Cabelas had on sale for a few months... I think they were $54 for a case, & they were 1300 fps and shot really clean ... I hope they keep havin that deal this season...

if you get on cabelas mailing list you get those coupons for 20$ off a purchase over a hundred you can really lower you ammo cost by using those.
l shot with a manager from gander mountain last year who handed me a stack of 10$ off any 50$ purchase..
managed to get my ammo closet back to around 1200 target rounds. need somemore lead and I won't pay 39$ like gander wants. I need to get ahold of that buddy that makes it.. if he hasn't died from all the toxic fumes.

Guys, just got a flier from The Horse & Hunt club for thiat Jan24th shoot... theres also a 1000 live pigeon shoot included with the sporting clays.... THE BAD NEWS..... $ 180!!! @#*$! & that aint even factoring in the shells, it said bring a case, youll need em....  I dont Know about you guys, but thats pretty steep for me, & for a season beginning "break in" shoot... :banghead:  Damn, thats what I spent about at the state shoot!

180 is what about 3 shoots in a normal world... I doubt I'll be able to swing.  february is a quiet month for shoots aswell.. I guess it'll be march before I shoot again then.
you got off cheap at the state shoot.. I think I spent almost 250 in entry fees.  prelim, tourney,5stand, and super sporting... then a few rounds of make a break.

Yeah, I cut back at the state this year... just the main event and 5-stand.... Sometimes the HHC can be a little "blue-blood"... Thank God for places like Metro GC, or should I say thank the owners that keep those places open at a good price to shoot.....   let me know if you guys want to get out.... maybe we should do a MNO Winter fun shoot some where.....

Im getting much better latley... but its all relative.(I was that bad! ;D)

Hey Cody, I detect a little sarcasm in that response. How about a lesson some day?
Maybe a dollar a bird?

Cody, I use to shoot alot, metro was home everyday, Rick the owner is a good friend of mine
From my experience all you do in the winter is pick up bad habits trying to dress warm
Then when league season starts you have to start all over.

The price of shooting these days slowed it way down for me. I know the wife likes
it, more money for shopping ;D

I generally use1oz 8 at about 1235fps IC and LM for chokes. I had a 12 and then an 10 the last time I shot :banghead: it... that was right before the state shoot last year so my confidence was high going into state.   i think I should be open next week...but the cost is a killer.. it's nice to see some reloading stuff coming down in cost.. being layed off i reloaded as much as I could here.. now I'm out of lead and wads.. down to 200 primers.. but I have 2k in target rounds loaded

Rick's a great guy....    We all owe him huge for holding off Ziggy on giving in and not selling out on us suburban wingshooters!  I seem to do pretty good on that freakin tower as long as I dont try using skeet tubes! ;)(even with small shot...)  The targets going away used to give me the fits on that thing... 75% of em are actually pretty easy though... I think the best thing besides Rick keepin the flame burning is how he embraced the 5-stand thing there... lots of choices for a limited space, he's  done a great job there! :happy1:

I agree with that. rick has always run a good business with the shooter in mind. he opens ranges when there's a line and the beer is always cold when your done.   he's lucky forest lake didn't resisted it and then they let the crabby trap shooters run everyone else off and not to mention the goofy hours. I like the lay out of forest lakes club but they're never open so I gave up trying to practive there
