Hey Cody.... too bad ya couldnt make it... well they called your name for one of the guns. We  tried to say you were at you car putting your gun away, so they drew another name............... (just kidding!) :whistling: I brought my dog, Drummer, and he ate your pork chops... ;D But yeah, it was a blast... great food as always, nobody from our squad won anything.... I should have though, but I didnt put $ in for the lewis class(top scorers split $$$) but I should have, cause I shot my best ever, a 47/50 and then a 44/50 for a 91... tied Jim Kline (remember shooting with him? "master class shooter/instructor"....) and he won a couple hundred $$$ :banghead: (he DID put in for lewis class $$) So I guess at least I ended the season on a good personal note... our squad ended up in 5th place in AA class, so we were the 5th best team out of 50 squads or so.  Aint too bad eh?! :happy1:  No trophies or medals or $$ but its enough to hang a hat on... maybe next year! :kermit:Maybe after this strong showing, we can find a sponser for next season...(HINT....HINT ;)) We gotta get some of the MNO guys to shoot this comming spring.... It was a fun year, Im hopping my buddy Dave will be shootin this year, it was weird not having him there but I had a lot of fun shootin with you this season, I hope ya had a lot of fun too.  Now its time to put all the practice to the test and go after the birds, eh?!?! :dancinred: :rocker; :happy1:

Yep.... I'm takin it that he really wasnt a rookie...  :scratch:just his first year at Wild Marsh... :whistling: I think there is a most improved shooter(compared avg. from previous year) but I didnt hear them award that this year, but their PA system went kaput and they were yellin out stuff then and it was hard to hear everthing....

Cody, I think they're open till november, on weekends, same hours (9 - 3) I wouldnt mind gettin my 20g out, cause I used my 12g at the banquet cause it looked like rain... let me get back to ya... lots of stuff goin on.  Damn,  I looked at the scores for the banquet shoot, and there was only one guy who beat Jim Klien's scores and mine, he shot a 92, & Jim & I shot a 91, pretty cool!  one shot from a big, engraved crystal trophy... same old story from my clays carrer... :doah: ;)

no i get so much practice thats i let them get out a longer ways for more of a challenge. plus the sporting clays has made me unbeleivable deadly if your a pheasant chukar, goose, hungarian partridge (sp). we will see about ducks, but its been one shot and done, maybe i better try some grouse ;D

:rotflmao: remind me not to go pheasant hunting with ya! ;)yeah... grouse dont fly much like clay targets... In fact I dont think Ive ever seen one fly in a straght line now that I think of it... ;) maybe the closest target to a grouse that ya see is those rabbit targets that launch 5-10 feet in the air off a bounce! :doah:  I remember seeing that some target setter was launching clays off a trampoline to make em change direction... dont tell Chris at Wild Marsh about that though, thats all we need! ;D

Yeah I definatly would be, but I took Friday off work and I'm headin up north with Drummer to try and seek revenge on those wiley little thunderchickens!  Its kinda funny, but during hunting season, you'll find ya shoot less than in the off season! Shouldnt it be the other way around? :rotflmao: Im getting rusty!  ;) so far I havent got off a shot, maybe I was hunting stuff too thick to see em, Im just seeing drummer locked up and then... wwwhhhirrrrr! :banghead: :whistling:

yup.. I'm in for this weekend. if the weather holds out. I'll shoot in just about anything, but the drive is another story since the hhc is over an hour away.

did any of you ever see at game unlimited (summerset) back when pat used to skip a flipped standard off the pond? that was always a fun station.

I shot at the HHC saturday... looks like I picked the right day to hit it as the weather was perfect just enough overcast to keep the sun out of your eyes, and not enough wind to push the targets l around like little frisbees. the turn out was more then I expected and I had hopes that my class would have enough shooters for me to obtain a punch if my shooting deserved it.

after the first station I had to quickly change my game plan from shooting 100 to shooting much less as the targets were set to challenge you. I held my own on the first half of the course coming out with a 39 (I'm a D class shooter).  The second half quickly proved to be more challenging for me as I chumped the first station walking away with a 2 of 8.. then going 50% on the true pairs a few stations latter only added to my demise as I couldn't figure out the correct order to take them in (this is where a lot of shooters helps as I always watch the groups in front of me shoot and you can see what works and what doesn't). I finished the back have with a 28.. with an overall score of 67.  I then turned my sites on the club house and ventured into triggers where they had antelope chili and mich golden waiting for me.

being the first shoot after the state tournament I consider this to be a "new season" I always start out slow and feel I should be shooting in the mid 70's after a few practice rounds. I'll also have my shooting bag in order and my cabinet refilled with reloads (1250 fps #8's.).

It turned out when we left my brother was 1st in D class which consisted of just the 2 of us, but he beat the guy he planned on beating (me). as for the rest of the shooters they seemed to be A class or better.

either way it was a good day out with my brother and my browning

Just getting out is good... I had to stick around because of a water heater mishap/clean up :banghead:.... My clays gun is a tricked out Browning 525 OU..... what type of a Browning do you shoot?

I have a browning 525... that is factory left handed. when I picked it up at gander a few years back I fell in love and bought it the same night I found it. I had never seen a factory lefty before and had struggled with my beretta 687 silver pigeon for a few years. once I shot that browning I could tell I had made the right choice it just fit perfectly. it would turn into a great shopping trip as I found a clearance columbia shooting vest for 10$ also.. I had the gun fitted which consisted of adjusting the trigger and then I patterned it with my reloads and have been shooting it ever since.

on a strange note... I went home to get the permission from the boss to buy the 525 I thought I would do some research and called cabelas, the guy at the gun counter told me "we don't have any left handed models we only have normal models". so I told him "well I'll take my abnormal money to gander"..  this incident was bugging me so I sent an email to the manager of the rogers store and he gave me a discount coupon for my next purchase, so I bought the leather case there for half price.

Yeah my 525 story is weird also, mines a normal ;) Feild 525 though, had a trigger job done on it had the stock cut to fit, had the sights removed and a Tom Knapp tube sight stuck on it, and bought all the Briely extended tubes for it, Im shooting the newer Midas grade tubes now in it...  I knew the Firearms mgr. at the Maple Grove Gander Mtn. and was talkin clays at the store and brought up how much I loved my 425 golden clays that I had for two years, and he goes, have ya heard of the new 525 comming out, its got the lighter barrels, backbored,  nicer wood!  I said no, and he pulls out a box, says we just got the first one from Browning, its a field model, but ya gotta swing this bad boy around... well I did, & like you, I fell in love with it.  Thing was, they were so new, nobody else got any that year, and later found out it wouldnt be till the next winter when stores got em in.... after calling around & finding out no one was getting any, and most hadent even heard of the 525, I called up that Mgr at Gander and told him to hide it, went in the next morning and traded in the golden clays I had with cash to boot... Questioned my sanity a bit but yeah, my scores went up quick, same thing as you, fit like it was built for me... then I tweeked it a bit like I said and would be lost without it... I dread the day it gets worn or broken so bad I have to find something new.... but I guess the same thing could happen again, right? :whistling:  If we shoot together sometime, we wont get em mixed up, I put a gold Browning buckmark logo on the stock, cause someone got their 525 mixed up and walked off with mine for a few feaked out minutes.... got it back though! :doah: Yeah ya did get lucky finding the lefty, Im pretty sure they are a custom order from the factory... some one probably ordered it then backed out... some peoples kids, eh?  Awesome gun though, they aint cheap & you could spend more and TRY to get a nicer gun, but it would be very tough to do.... :happy1:
