I tagged out during gun season, so I have to go to a management area and buy the muzzy tag, and a mgmt. tag, and shoot a doe.  Still mulling it over.  My .54 CVA Hawkins is calling to me.  My eyes don't like open sights much these days, but I'd sure like to kill a deer with that gun before retiring it to hand on the wall in the living room, now that scopes are legal.  I might give it a go if the temps don't get too cold.  I've got a couple good spots up in the Alexandria area.  My buddy only saw 45 deer up there openening day of gun, but that was on private property.  I'd be hunting WMA's.

Most likely I will go. Not so much to kill a deer but I use the time to explore my property.  I usually go on long slow hikes that take me into areas that I usually don't get into during the fall, and gun or bow season.  I usually find some interesting things.  Also, it a good time to patrol the land because sometimes people think that now that rifle season is over, they will have the run of the land.

Went muzzy hunting last year for the first time.  Tha'ts all it took.  Been firearms hunting since the 60's but during the muzzy hunt my brother and I were the only one's out there.  We would meet at our "lunchtime" spot and build a fire and roast some of my polish over the coals.  Great time.  Will go again this year.  good luck.

Brother-in-law and I sighted in our 50s on Saturday. We were on the East side of Lake Osakis. Man that was cold. At the end we ended up shooting figure eights using two rounds an inch above a bingo dobber mark on paper at 50 yards. Should be good to go. Good luck to everyone else.

mike, we were out there about 1:30. I don't know if anyone could of heard us with the wind howling like that. Both of us just put new scopes on. I think we should be good to go. Really looking forward to going this weekend, want another crack at an eight point that sneaked by me during rifle season.

I was hoping they wouldn't pass the scope on muzzle loaders. Not because I'm against it, I just figured then I would have to go get a scope, install it and then sight it in.   :rotflmao:
As it turned out, I never got around to it so if I head out, it will be with open sights.  Good luck for you guys going out on Saturday.

I got a scope put on my old Thunderhawk. Got it dialed in to an inch high at 50 yards. I used my rifle tag during firearms season so I have to go for antlerless only with my landowner permit. I have 6 stands to choose from that will keep me from trying to shoot too far.

Just had a couple does run past at 30 yards... going about mach 9. Didn't see what was chasing them, and didn't have time to react...oh well...

Not bad Boarski!

Had to run to town and get a new ram rod....for some reason I lost the end of mine

Going back out now....going to take the long way in (the girls said they found a skull on the trail...gotta go check that out first)

I've got a CVA optima....had it for several years.... something about it, has never been quite right.... I never shoot over 50 yards with it.

I think it's time for something different.....
