(ABC 6 News) -

 Cub Foods will stop selling e-cigarettes and vaporizers in more than 110 of its stores.

On Twitter, the Minnesota-based company said they decided after carefully considering the "increasing questions from the health community" and "complex regulations associated with the products."

Cub Foods also announced that while Minnesota is an open carry state they're asking customers to no longer carry firearms into their stores. They say this comes after customer feedback and recent tragic events across the country.


Hey Cub..... :moon:  I knew there's a reason I never liked that store...

(ABC 6 News) -- A 20-year-old Rochester woman is facing charges after allegedly smashing a beer bottle over a man's head, sending him to the hospital.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 12 at Riverview Greens Golf Course in Stewartville. According Olmsted County Sheriff's Captain Scott Behrns, Kayla Peterson got into an argument with a 22-year-old man. Capt. Behrns said the victim said something to Peterson along the lines of "why don't you just hit me?". Capt. Behrns said Peterson did then hit the man with a beer bottle on the head, causing "severe" lacerations on his head and neck.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. However, Capt. Behrns said the victim wasn't being very cooperative.

Peterson was arrested and is facing a felony 2nd-degree assault charge, a misdemeanor domestic assault charge, and a misdemeanor for underage consumption.

we dont have any of those in our area. :moon: :moon: so NO!!!!!!! AND actually the closest cub to us is in montecello and i stop there rarely for my cheese i smoke.

ADLI'S in st cloud looks like a pig pen..........and alot better stores in between my house and there.

Are supermarket aisles racist?

My supermarket has a giant "international" food aisle dominated by Asian and Latino products. Which items end up in a section dedicated to a particular foreign culture's cuisine and not mixed in with the so-called American staples -- Heinz, Campbell's, etc. -- fascinates me.

Why, for example, is Cafe Santo Domingo on a Dominican Republic shelf and not next to Maxwell House in the regular coffee aisle?

David Chang doesn't see these placements as mere marketing decisions but as something more sinister. Founder of the Momofuku restaurant empire, Chang calls the "ethnic" or "international" food aisle a "last bastion of racism that you can see in full daylight in retail America."

I would disagree. I love the international aisle.

Chang argues that shelves designated for Latino or Asian foods are a kind of segregation from white America. Growing up in Northern Virginia, he recalls his parents shopping at two grocery stores, one dedicated to Korean foods and another a supermarket with an international food aisle.

Having that kind of choice sounds nice to me. But Chang says the existence of ethnic markets alongside allegedly all-American supermarkets told him he and his family "were never going to be accepted."

Come on. I don't doubt that Chang, like other children of immigrants, was subjected to hurtful comments. Unfortunately, nearly every recently arrived immigrant group gets sent through the wringer by people who were here before. Ideally, they move past the ugliness.

I'll take the food critics' word for it that Chang is touched by culinary genius. His high-style interiors are articles in themselves. Dining at his establishments can require two-hour waits for a table and end in an astronomical bill. One entree at Momofuku Las Vegas -- King Crab & Pork Belly Stew with kimchi, burrata and rice cakes -- goes for $72. I'm sure it's to die for.

However, there is a note of discord when an entrepreneur complains of racial segregation in supermarkets while running elite dining salons rife with economic segregation. The racial makeup of customers at his tables does reflect the realities of class in America. And so, too, does the racial makeup of his kitchens.

Let's go back to the international food aisle. Mine is not limited to predominantly non-white civilizations. There's a small Irish section with Lyons Tea and Hogan's Irish Soda Bread Mix. The shelves with Portuguese labels offer foods from Portugal as well as Brazil. There's another area for kosher foods.

And although spaghetti and pasta sauces have been incorporated in the mainstream aisles (something Chang notes), my international aisle has a separate section for imported Italian products, mainly the Pastene brand. It's a strange placement decision, in this opinion.

Supermarket managers say the international aisle is there for marketing reasons. It gives recently arrived immigrants one place to go for foods from the old country with labels in their native language.

Furthermore, many customers on the international aisle are native-born Americans seeking specialized ingredients to make, say, pad thai or tortillas. And for we who attempt fashionable fusion cooking -- which mixes ingredients from different culinary traditions -- the international aisle saves time.


Even if one dislikes the idea of an ethnic sorting of foods, where else would you put pacaya en salmuera, bottled palm flower clusters from Guatemala? What about Peruvian chulpe, dried, toasted corn?

Cafe Bustelo, designed for Latino coffee drinkers, has gained more widespread popularity. So you find a bunch of Bustelo products in the international aisle, and now there are some in the regular coffee section, right next to the Folgers.

Where supermarkets arrange items with foreign provenance obviously evolves over time.

International aisles are there for the convenience of shoppers. No offense is intended, and none should be taken. Get over it.

But SHE states more than a few times it MAY be the policies ASSOCIATED with it that MAY cause problems...no hard facts stated in there, conjecture only, as I read it.

Takes lotsa motivation and drive. I started biking again with a girl friend before my last spinal surgery. She'd go about 3 miles after work. I could barely do one! Said that's gonna change! After a couple three weeks, I really got revved, and was doing 10-12 miles every day after work. I actually lost 24 lbs in a month and got into the best shape I've been in in quite a while. (sensible eating, too)  Kept it off until the next surgery two years later took away that ability to bike.
I really miss it.

Yup. When ya can hardly walk anymore, much less bike, it all comes right back. Funny how that works. I  always liked working out. Ya feel lots better afterwards. Ya really do. Endorphins.

Ya you are right Del.  I try to get some walking in but I get more motivated to cut firewood so there is a purpose.  LOL  I need to walk more too.   I am trying to eat more protein and less carbs which is pretty easy for me.

My experience is that exercise is helpful but it won't do that much to lose weight unless you at athlete level or marine basic level or old school baling hay all day.   

Makes you feel better though.    Backing off on quantity of food and drink seems to be most effective for me.   

And I also think cutting back sugar and potatoes and white bread type stuff is a good idea.
