huge remodeling project, right now im in the middle of plumbing and rerouting water lines, no biggie ther. but I need to install a bathtub, where a square shower was installed. ive replaced a tub before but in this case the drain is offset due to the shower, in which case I need to build up the tub support to install drain pipe so it puns under the tub to the drain. if anyone here can give me a hand on a weekend, room and board is available, pluse your choice of a weekend fishing in the boars nest or 25 lbs of my sausage. let me know. if not, at least help me find a how to video, the internet is loaded with them and quickly get frustrated trying to find the right one. thanks!

I'm guessing this in the lower level of the house and dont feel like busting out the concrete? If so what's the floor drain, cast iron? My first thought would be to make it like a built up "Garden tub" if you have the room..

I've installed a few tubs in my day.....

Is there a reason why you can't relocate the drain?

Gotta be a tub? If your expanding you can always order a shower pad with drain where it needs to be..

I'd lean to the build up floor, hollow under the tub and you can run the pipe from the tub to the drain,, just my 2 cents.. hope it good for ya!!

Jack hammer time. Most plumbers would hammer a new line in the floor from the old pipe.

Don't you watch "This Old House" very much?

I would just build a treated wood box to raise it up 6" or whatever you need for space.  I did that in a house years ago.  The raised tub/shower was just fine for me.  Put cross braces in so the tub can sit on them.

Don't forget the very very slight tub slope towards drain.....and the new drain line 1/4" drop, so it drains right...that's what 4' levels are for.  :whistling:

Codes are the FIRST thing ya check before ya start poundin' away......but I think he's pretty safe with an enclosed tub with proper drainage and vent gas pipe tie-in.
