I think you might be reading the chart wrong. The way I see it on the right side of the chart is that the top 1% is paying by far the most taxes. What you see on the left side of the chart is the percentage of tax payers. Not what they are paying. Am I seeing it wrong? It has been said for the longest time that the top 1% pays about 70% of the taxes in the US.

Thats an old tired saying. The middle class isn't shrinking at the expensive of the rich, who needs to employe them. The middle class is shrinking because the left keeps making it easier for them to drop out and live on welfare for more vote  freebies. 🤫

I don’t know— if I were in that 37% tax bracket, which starts at somewhere north of $600,000, I think I’d be pretty happy. Much more so than the 22% bracket I’m in now. I’ll pay taxes on every additional dollar I can get my hands on.

Also, as far as job creators— if my multi-millionaire boss/company owner gets a tax cut, I’m pretty sure he’s not cutting me in. And he won’t be hiring more employees or expanding the business, so it doesn’t really help the greater economy.
Ok, I’m ready to be crucified.

Start your own company. He's taking all the risks and you get to walk away to the next company if his fails.

And if he has an established company?  He still gets the benefits of a corporate tax break with no need to pass it through to employees. I’m not saying that he doesn’t deserve it, only that the well worn axiom of it will benefit the working middle class is not a universal truth.
As for starting my own company, I would certainly consider the tax implications.

Excellent post, Deadeye. While I don’t agree with the theory that is the basis for some of these credits, many of the credits are an effort to insert some standard of fairness/compassion into an unwieldily system.
Some are abused by the people that unfairly benefit from them. I think that’s inherent in an imperfect system that we live under.

Which is why I dream of a flat percentage rate tax. Everyone would pay the same percentage across the board. And the idiot still won't fix anything with his tax hikes. He will just hurt the small business the most and send the bigger companies over seas thus putting people out of work.
