yea i pretty much dont throw to much out....unless its a useless piece of sheet lawnmower!!!!!!!! its been out on the street for over a week and its still there!!!!!!

oh well.......when i head north it'll hit the free corner!!!!!!!! there i;d give it 24 hours!!!!!

Amazing how that works sometimes. Bill & I cleaned a mess if crap out of the boat shack a few years back including a POS white metal cabinet someone insisted on keeping. I think everyone has had one of these at one time or another. Probably the same one. It had no top on it & it was always in the way taking up space. We about killed ourselves dragging the sucker up the hill but we were determined. Got it on the trailer along with the rest & set it out at "the dump". A couple days later it was gone. Good riddance.

I was given a grocery bag of green beans.  Do you guys blanch them before vac pack and freezing them?  Or just warsh and cut the ends off and pack and freeze?

mine get blanched then put on a cookie sheet and into the freezer. When froze I just put them in a bread bag

Yup, I chop 🪓 um up, blanch, dry, then vacuum pack.

Yup, cut up, blanch 3 minutes, ice water for 5 to 10 minutes, freeze on wax paper covered cookie sheet, put in ziploc bags when frozen.

Tomatoes are getting away from me. Seems i remember a post from the past about freezing them whole. Could someone refresh my memory? TIA

Yeah, I don't remember where the link was, but it works.  I've done it with Romas that I later used for making sauce.  I just stuck 'em in a Ziploc and freezed 'em.

I'm not sure how well that would work for freezing Big Boys for sammich slices.  Maybe someone else will chime in.

I got it from JB a few years ago.  I do a quick wash in the sink and freeze in vac bags.  The skin comes right off when partly thawed

I just tossed them in the freezer, then bagged them...   works great!!!

Grabbed the last baseball bat sized zookini,  it's amazing what 3 days away will do to a plant.  The jalapenos and bell peppers are still going strong,  but the tomatoes sure have slowed, picked 3 today. Gave them the talk today, you don't start turning red your otta here...

Pivked a shrinkflation sized coffee can full of green beanies. I think it's the only time I've ever done that in October.

My brother picked another dozen, maybe 2, tomatoes on Saturday here. The neighbor got 3 more of 'em yday.

the other day i pulled the rest of my tomatoes. plucked all the maters off and barely filled the bottom of an ice cream pail. thye'll eventually get ripe......most anyway. one thing stood out big time.......all my plants, 21 of them, and except for the 3 lucky tigers, not of the others had any root system!!! none.

i have carrots and kalarabi left.....and by the  end of the weekend or first part of next week they'll be out to. not many left.

then just to cut off the flowers. one thing i've noticed with the flowers, especially the sediums..........there arent many bees going to them anymore...... is that a sign there all done??????

Our Sedums have gotten reddish and there were some bees a week ago but nothing like they used to be.  They bee guy doesn't put hives across the road from us anymore.

Still lotsa maters here yet, especially roma, celebrity, jet star & super fans. Plenty of the snack size models too. I see more snap peas being set. Should try to water the Sugar Daddy snap peas again to see how many of those I can coax them to set. Squash to pick yet altho there are still some greener ones that should make it yet. For whatever reason the buttercup squash didn't get powdery mildew to the extent that the pumpkins and gourds did so their leaves are still fairly green.

No roots under the maters? Must've been too much watering! Am sure the season had a lot to do with it. Mulching as I've always said can be a double-edged sword. Here on these heavier soils in a year like this one, I would expect exactly something like that to happen. I needed to get rid of water not stockpile it under the plant much of the season. Plus every slug and earwig within miles would've been hanging out underneath it.    I no tilled the tomatoes in between the rains. Likewise with the peppers. The tomatoes liked it this time around. The peppers not so much although there are actually going to be some finally.

  i've watered more the last 3 weeks then the full spring and summer combined!!!!! mother nature did the rest!!!!

as far as mulch........i saved all my maple leaves from last fall.........thats what i used. and right now..........you cant tell i put anything down!!!!!
