Mornin' comrades! 32 at choretime heading for a high of perhaps 33. More rain yesterday and last night, another .57" at the ranch & .74" in Bugtussle proper. Storm totals were 1.31" & 1.51" respectively. Not a lot on the slate for today other than to answer end of the year questions. Prolly sneak out of here after lunch to watch Dutchy's favorite football coach. Great photo roony. I hear ya on the remembrances. When at my nieces this weekend, they had a bunch of Mom's furniture & fixtures. Hadn't been there before so when I sat down and started looking around, it brought back lots of fond memories. Mom's last Christmas was 11 years ago now & this marked the 40th year of Dad's last one. Funny how time flies...

Good morning All.  Looks like we might get a reprieve from the rain.  We sure needed the moisture but could we not have gotten earlier in the year?   On the other hand I am sure glad this all did not come down as snow.  According to some water collection it looks close to 3" or better.  Oh well, can't control Mother Nature.
Now that I don't think I need to build an ark I think it is time to start our major winter project.  Time to tear into another boat interior.  Last winter we did my Son's boat.  Mine this year.

Mornin boys, we have 30 now & are headed towards 38 later. A northerly wind ~ 15 too, so it won't feel that warm. I've got a 9:30 appt at the clinic for my yearly checkup today & will go from there. No more now, have a good 1.

Dr appt. yesterday. Blood pressure was OK, cholesterol was "elevated", A1C ok, blood sugar was off the charts. 344. Looks like I need to hide my own treats from myself. So I'm headed to town and the drugstore to get some pills today. Still no heat in garage so if they don't get to it today or tomorrow I have to make a decision whether or not to tote in all of the freeze-ables before I leave on Friday. Using small heater and 20 pounders to keep it kinda warm now. Have a great day all, later...... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin' comrades! 30 at choretime heading for a high in the mid-30's. No measurable precip in the past 24 hrs. at the ranch or in Bugtussle. Kinda winding down towards year-end. Get a couple bills out and check the piggy bank to make sure we're covered. Should figure out how this paid sick leave nonsense is supposed to work with my accountant. Thanks Tampon Timmy!

i dont mind fixing up things myself....as long as there isnt any long term possible ramifications!!!! when it comes to things like a furnace or aa major repair on something.........i'd prefer to pay someone who does it for a living in the event there are issues i can call that person to fix it!!!!

that just me though!!!!!

not an accountant dotch, but from what i understand you work so many hours and accumulate 1 hour of paid sick time up to 48 hours in a year. you can use it for almost any relative as i understand it, which i think is a crock.

as much as i negotiated benefits for the workers......i think this is wrong. its an added expense to an employer.......and you know where that trickles down to???

it may look like a nice benefit to an employee..........but it will take something away from some other benefit!!! i know when you took the unpaid leave you needed documentation...not sure about how this works........i see possible abuse!!!

I do everything myself anyway. If it is just a hanging furnace all you are really going is hooking up gas and ventilation. No sheet metal or ductwork to worry about.

I can see that.  I am almost 20 years older than you so the sitting comfortably thing is appealing to me now.  Now I have to get rid of the Nordic Track.

That's just it glenn. Since they opened this can of worms, it will mean more bookwork for me as an employer as well as taking away from some of the perks that I've normally granted my employees. For instance, I have always been extremely flexible on work hours and on time off. However, if I stay at this much longer, I can envision myself cracking down on that, demanding more documentation from my workers of their whereabouts and daily accountability of their progress. I've had enough trouble as it is over the years trying to keep employees from screwing me over. I could write a book on some of that crap. More time spent, more distrust, and more headaches. Keep it up, & no one will want to own a small business in this state.

With so many small businesses sitting right on the edge right now lets throw this at them now too. Lets force them right out of business.   What a bunch of BS.  So does this money need to be banked as earned as well?  You can bet the employees you can't get to work now will be sick even more often.

Scenic......i havent seen the fine print on this new paid leave.......but under the unpaid time....you needed medical

documentation to get employer approval of the time off.

if i understand your question  correctly about the money being banked as earned........i believe it will be as it covers lost wages when using the paid time off. so yea it would be taxed also!!!!

I understand it would be taxed.   The EMPLOYER has to bank that money, keep track of it just as vacation time has to be banked by the EMPLOYER.

This new law is only going to expedite the process of putting all the pieces in place so I can move into retirement then outta this state. Then it can be the socialist hellhole it's destined to become and I won't give a crap.
