I had a mean old grandmother that was ancient for as long as I can remember. We were the same way, we filled bags with candy unlike today where kids go from store to store or only relatives or immediate neighbors. I guess with all the democrats out there you can't be too careful these days! Back to grandma. When the older kids would come out later at night she would keep grapefruits by the door and when the older kids came she would try to throw them in their bags and try to bust out the bottoms of the bag! She really hated the older kids with pillow cases instead of paper bags. In today's world she would probably get shot or at least heavily egged or TP'd.
That is funny as heck Hawg.  Sounds like a good time.   I would have laughed my aZZ off seeing grandma doing that.   Well not funny to the kids...

Good morning, 52* and of course, still dark yet. Not many trick or treaters at my place either, boober. Had about twenty cute little kids and one rotten spoiled  brat.  Lotsa candy left that I can't eat. Little brat grabbed the candy bowl I was holding, and a tug of war ensued. Him: "I want those!!" (Pulling the bowl) Me: " I have yours right here in my hand!" Him: I DON"T WANT THOSE!! *Tug*tug*  Me: "FIne!  Then don't take any!!" Kid behind him said "Can I have his?" Me: You betcha, buddy, here!!!" Little brat runs off screaming....parents : "Whats wrong honey?"......ya, baby the brat some more.  :banghead: Supposed to be in the 60's all week. I'm gonna slowly poke at doing as much yard work as I can. Any walking on uneven grounds makes the legs feel like they're being ripped off, so very little moving around to do the leaves. And of course, no twisting, so rakings out.  I just poke at it little by little and sit down a lot. Do need to blow all the leaves out from under the deck, though, and in the nooks and crannies. A lot to still come down off the trees, I figger another week should have us pretty well taken care of. Have a good one guys, I think some over easy eggs and some of this new slab bacon I picked up might hit the spot....

Man you just took the fun out of my crunchy Raisin Bran Rebs.  Your bacon and eggs sounds great.  Well for the first time since I can remember I didn't watch the Vikes till the end.  I went to bed and read my kindle at the 2 minute warning.  Also it simplifies deer hunting.  At this point I plan on sitting in my ground blind all day Sunday if I don't get a deer on Sat.  What the hell happened.  It is a large part the Oline but with the quick plays the first 5 games they were dealing with it.  Now all of these slow plays and Sam is getting killed.  It now appears that a bad attitude is effecting the D too.  Why did over the hill Norv change things???  Zim doesn't have the fire on the sidelines he had the first 5 neither.  Seems like something happened.  I had them at 12 wins and now maybe 8-8.

Morning. Yeah, I hear ya LPS. the vikes flat out sucked all around last night. I gave up at 10 and went to bed. It is like the bye took the wind out of their sails. I also had them at 12 and 4. Now I am going with 5 and 11. That oline  is horrid. Could just as well have highschool kids in there. It is the tale of 2 teams pre bye and after bye. I am with Boar, don't see them doing any better against the lions either. Have a good day gents!

Sorry to wreck yer CRB, Barry! The bacon was a Hormel thick slab type that I picked up at Menard's, of all places. Pretty danged good; coulda used some more smoke flavoring. I've tried every brand and kind of bacon out there from the stuff at the Pierz, Mn. butcher shop, to Wrights to Hormel to Farmland and everything in between. My favorite hands down, is the Farmland extra thick sliced double smoked...... ;)

Remember all the die hard Vikings fans saying "I don't see a game on the schedule we can lose", personally with all the injuries I don't see a game we can win! Seems Like Deja Vu All Over Again (great John Fogerty song) I'm still on the bandwagon but it is disheartening, nothing we have't been through before though. Is it Friday morning yet?

We live out in the country and had 1 kid stop by.  Needless to say I filled his pail to the top as I knew he'd be the only one stopping.  Hoping to get out in the stand tonight and tag one before gun opener.  We shall see how the day goes.  Have a good one fellas :happy1:

Back in MN again! Luckily Mrs. Cheviot had the little neighbor girls treats taken care of  before I got back from Canada. And I left them 4 kittens I'd trapped earler so can't say I didn't do my part. Mrs. Cheviot tried to paw me but I rolled over and played dead. Then she left me alone. I was glad because my arse was draggin' last night.  ;)

Canada and the Canadians were good. We split and stacked wood as well as getting Billy's cabin put to bed for the winter. Got his wood stove figured out. It's one of those higher efficiency models with about two pages of instructions. Lots different than the barrel stove we heated with when I was in college. Amazing we didn't burn the house down with that. My cold is a lot better. Partied with the Canadians Sunday night and that was a blast. They were more concerned about our presidential election than we were I think. I got the bottle of Sapphire that I forgot in Billy's truck last trip and added a bottle of Beefeater when we came back across this time. Now I should be set for a while.   :happy1:

For Reinhardt.   I saw this recipe in an ebook and thought of him

CAULIFLOWER KIMCHI
YIELD: 1 GALLON (3.7 L)

If you want to learn about fermenting meats, I recommend learning how to make kimchi, or fermented vegetables, first. This is good training because it shows patience! You can substitute any number of vegetables in this traditional Korean recipe, including cabbage, rutabaga, carrots, radishes or cucumbers.
1 head cauliflower
2 tbsp (30 g) ginger
6 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup (280 g) coarse Chilean chili flakes
3 red radishes, sliced
1 carrot, peeled and grated
3 sprigs scallion, chopped rough
2 cups (473 ml) fish sauce
¼ cup (60 g) palm sugar
Juice of 2 limes
1 cup (237 ml) water
Chop the head of cauliflower to resemble large pieces of couscous. Combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add 1 cup (237 ml) water, or enough water so that mixture is ¾ covered with water. Put in an airtight container and let it sit in a cool, dry place for 1 week. Check it every day and shake it up if any fuzz appears on the surface. After 1 week it’s ready to eat—and it will keep in the refrigerator for up to 30 days.
If you’re not patient enough to wait a week, double the amount of lime juice and let the kimchi sit overnight in the refrigerator. It will be ready to eat immediately.

Never had kimchi, may have to give it a try sometime.  Well hump day.  Tomorrow is my last day of the week.  Will be heading to camp on Fri.  I think I will shoot the 243 again today or tomorrow to make sure the scope is still ok.  Sure like it so far.  Made "funeral hotdish" last night.  Turned out great.  The wife took over the controls so I had to put some Johny's Seasoning on mine.  She doesn't get into the spicing like I do.    Oh ya, I got the pontoon boat last night.  It is a 20' National with a 1996? Merc 40 hp on it.  It even has power trim.  No trailer.  Needs cleaning up and will probably have to go through the carbs since it has been sitting for years.  Will be a fun vessel on the river next summer.

Morning all. We picked up the wife's new rifle Monday night and went and sighted it in last night. I bought her a Savage Axis II XP Hardwood in 7mm-08. That is a sweet shooting gun. I got her Hornady custom lites for shells since she was worried about the kick. There is hardly no kick at all. Shoots nice groups too. This will be her first year of shooting her own deer. Normally she is sitting next to me and I shoot the deer. I am excited for her, hoping one cooperates for her. Well, tomorrow is my Friday also, then off for the whole next week. Hopefully the smoker at deer camp is bellowing smoke by Tuesday. We usually get all the processing done before we break camp on Friday. have a good day all.
