Cloudy and fairly calm again today.  Good news for the ice making.  Vikes day today.  Making Ice Rigs while watching pregame.  Man would it be fun to go to the game at Jacksonville. Looks like a nice stadium.  Well today I am going to make some country style ribs. Have the smoker grill ready to go.  Thinking I will do 2 2 1 or maybe 2 1 1 on them.  Don't want to overdo them.  Then I think I will look for Del and Rebs home made sauce to put on them.  Something simple as I will be busy watching the Vikes...   lol

guess I will watch the rest of the queenies game while baking cookies.  Watched the first part while walking on treadmill.   Hate to waste time just sitting there watching them.  Depressing when they just look bad and dumb and I wasted 3+ hours.

Oatmeal/cherry/apricot/raisin cookies... mmmm. I would smome some eggs but it is pretty cold for just a tube in a weber.   Maybe a few briquets too would do the job.

Morning.  Another cold day here.  Now a 20 something day sounds nice.  Oh well.  I will get the fish house ready this week and maybe even put it out on Sat.  Going to be below 0 at night here and about 0 - single digits for highs.  Used Dels sauce on my ribs yesterday and turned out good.  Could have used a little more time on the grill but will reheat the rest tonight and should be perfect.  Stay warm out there today.

Waiting for the furnace repair guy, it went out about 9pm. I was able to get it running for short periods so I'm at about 50 degrees so not terrible. I'm too cheap to pay emergency rates, I think it would have got fixed about the same time anyway as they do "no heats" first. Happy Monday.

Morning gents. yep we are making ice now. The lake froze over in front of our place Friday night. So it is starting to shape up. About the only issue is from the wind blowing out of the north and east all week is the 3-4 foot high ridge of ice at the end of the ramp. I am going to need to bust that up before I can go fishing. The wife and I made about 85 lbs of sausage this weekend. The cheddar jalapeno summer sausage turn out really good. Have not tried the other 2 yet. Well, just another day in paradise. Going to be making some ice this week. Have a good one.

Gud dagen! -4 at the ranch this a.m. Had about 5.5" of snow at the ranch and about 7" in Bugtussle proper. Got the barns all cleaned over the weekend. Had to pitch 3 loads out of the small barn. At least it wasn't as cold as the day before. Feel for ya hawg. Coming in after working outside all day the past couple days really makes one appreciate the heat being on. Need to head to FF or the local farm store to get some new chore boots though. After 15 years think mine are finally toast. Cookies look good del as does all the meat you processed boar.  :happy1:

-6 in Czechville USA, this morning.  When I got to work, I got a text from my wife - she was pulling the garbage cans out of the garage and out to the curb when she heard a hissing noise.  There on our freezing, un-insulated garage concrete floor was half-frozen bat, clinging to life.  Of course she freaked out, grabbed the shop broom and pushed it "All the way to the street so someone would run it over."  I told her the driveway/snowbank would've been sufficient enough to make it a bat-cicle and it would never bother us again.

the rafters above half our garage are sheet rocked-off but it's insulated and i'm sure there's enough heat transfer from the joining house to make it "hibernation-friendly." I'm guessing our little friend fell from the rafters, crawled until he found a hole big enough to squeeze through and then fell to the floor.  Couldn't believe he was still alive this morning.  I'm hoping that it doesn't turn into a bigger problem in the spring and that they stay out of the main attic.  I think that's sealed-off pretty well, but who knows.

Stay warm!

We've always had a lot of bats. When we remodeled, putting new soffits, fascia, and roof on, plus closing up the chimney, etc., we thought we'd seen the last of them too. Somehow they managed to find someplace to get in. Can hear them squeaking and scratching around just before dark during the summer. Every few years one still makes its way into the main part of the house.

Same here. Finally figured out they were getting in the house and coming down in the back of the upstairs bathroom sink. Foamed that 2 years ago and haven't had one since.  They do look like 747s when they're coming through your house,  wife really freaked out, but I didn't like them much either. Still have the old tennis rackets upstairs and downstairs though

Our church keeps a badminton racquet in the pulpit to deal with the occasional bat, although it has been several years since I have seen one there.

My furnace problem turned out to be frost in my 2 inch PVC fresh air inlet way down by a 90 degree fitting impossible to see. It was an accident the repair guy even found it, freezing at the inlet is common but where this one did was a first for him.  My tip for the day is go be sure your exhaust isn't too close to your intake. Swirling winds and frigid temps got me. It's been like this for 12 years with no problems so beware. Slept like a baby last night!
